It’s been a minute since I’ve posted here . We are behind the scenes cleaning rows and transforming the high tunnels to permanent crops ! We are finally finished w hightunnel 3 . It’s completely converted to permanent crops , mostly eucalyptus varieties . It’s not easy flipping beds and replanting inside a high tunnel so we went w permanent crops after a few years of trial and error of what grows better inside than out . We have one row left in tunnel three that I’ve decided grows better outside but that will wait until spring time to move when the plants are smaller to transplant !

We’ve been hard at work and have completed our weeding for the summer . Flowers are few this time of year since we have had so many 100 plus degree days w no rain .

But fall is upon us and things will change ! They always do .

We will have several new variety of eucalyptus this coming fall and mostly next season !

I’m out cutting stems before we get hit w rain , that may also be wishful thinking on my part ! lol Cut some green budded sedum (early cuts) it’s good in several diff stages of cuts . And that false spirea (Sobaria ) is wonderful ! I can’t cut enough off 10 plants that were planted this March ! I’ve cut the plants 3 times now ! I need more of this precious gem !

Lots of fireworks gomphrena and a pink mix of gomphrena too !

Just for fun . Asclepias Syriaca in all her glory . I did not plant this , but about 4 years ago , I had a volunteer . Now I have thousands of volunteers , back several years ago , I was growing every thing I could for the butterflies . So I left this one alone, seems they do prefer one milkweed over the other and this is not their preference by choice . I rarely see monarchs hanging out on this . But maybe they would if they had no other choice of food ! I’m here little butterflies just in case !

Well , I went outside to check on a 90
Foot row of sunflowers that my helpers planted
Last week , they weren’t all up yet , in fact I only had 3 or 4 in the whole row up . So I went to investigate and some stupid birds dug up the seed and ate the insides of all the seeds . Every single hole
Had empty hulls and they dug down into the dirt and pulled out those seeds ! Are we going to plant more for a fall crop ? Nope , I’ve been wanting to be done w sunflowers for two years . I kept trying and they just don’t sell good enough for me to keep growing them . Besides , every body is growing sunflowers , I’ll stick to yellow and pink tuberoses instead lol

And buddleia grand cascade pink ! Below . It’s so fragrant !

Aren’t you pretty pretty pretty !
