2016 has been the year for me to enhance my pony's education. Since I missed the one and only driving event within 6 hours of me for horses, I have concentrated on getting *OYY Classy Lady training and off the farm for some fun driving days and competition. Sharing some of my favorite photos from our work this summer. enjoy! The show we attended brought us 5th place in a large "color" class, 1st place in Pleasure Driving and Reserve Champion in the Pleasure Driving Stakes. and a HEAP of thanks to my photographers Robin and Alice who is also my gator, groom and "keep Linda sane" person.

wooohooo !!!! our first 2016 event is in the history books! Saturday, Feb 27th 2016 was our "get behind your horse" clinic that was all about harness and hitching. I took my pony, "Lady" and she modeled harness and how to hitch.....I had a blast, the weather was perfect, and not a speck of rain, even though there had been a big chance predicted. More events will be coming through our club, and I am looking forward to getting my driving equines out and about. Here are some of my favorites from the day.

Good morning folks! There have been some changes happening in the CHCC club and I wanted to share the news!2016 January Club update......Linda V is now acting President while Marianna recoups from a medical procedure. Please note, email is the best way to reach me .....[email protected]. 2016 holds much promise as the Club's second year. CHCC has a "learn to harness" fun day set for Feb 27th and in the planning stages, a March Pleasure Drive, summer parades, and a fall clinic. We need members!!! Safety is the club's first goal. Learning to be safe. Carriage driving is much more involved than being safe riding..join with us to learn the differences. More to come as I firm up dates for events and meetings. thank you!!! Carriage driving has been a dream of mine since I was a child, join us to find out how much fun you can have being safe.

Merry Christmas everyone...and wishing you a fantastic 2016!

Procrastination sometimes pays...today it did not. Years ago we had a flash flood here. I procrastinated and delayed moving a mare and foal out of a stall, into the surrounding round pen. If I had, I surely would have lost the foal....as the round pen was totally dismantled by the water, the foal would have been swept right under it! but...today's procrastination did not pay....well, it started a few days ago....we were due to have some cold weather....nothing too bad, 20 degrees or so, cold enough to freeze the water troughs. so...I put it on my list to go dump out the water, before the cold came...so...when I did need the trough it would not be a giant ice cube.....though it was on my list for several days...I never got to it..and the day I decided I could still accomplish the job, the trough was a giant ice cube..... so...fast forward to today when I brought the mares down off the hill so we could have some fun together....and...of course, I needed water in that giant ice cube water trough...easy enough...just fill the trough up, over the ice cube.....well, I went to use the house at the house, the one the hubby uses for gardening. SURELY he drained out this hose, I took care of all the ones in the orchard, at the barn, the arena...he uses this hose, I usually don't...so surely it was clear....NOT! the hose, also one giant ice cube...so, I went to the back of the house for hose #2. This one must be clear, after all, it is the hose he uses for cleaning fish all winter long....but...it was solid as an ice cube....Hose #3 (of the house hoses) was clear! it had laid on the steep bank in the back yard, he did not clear it, but gravity did! so....hose #3 was the winner....now...I search to find the tank heater, even though I know Legacy delights in playing with it.......:(

Time to sew !!! I know my Mom never thought I would make a decent seamstress, when I was starting out...but I proved I could do it... and over the years we shared lots of sewing projects together. I will never live up to her expertise but I think she would be proud I am darn near as good as she was in creating a pattern, where none exist. If she would have told me I could sew stuff for my horses when I was a kid and learning to sew, I probably would have taken to sewing on a more willing level.

Yesterday was an awesome equine day. I drove both my mares.....after some lunge and long line work....Mares are shedding like mad.....I feel buried in loose hair. I love when shedding is done !!! Mares drove well, we have lots of work to do to advance our training.
