There is nothing like the sounds of birds among the trees and a view toward Stonewall Peak to start a Sunday Morning of a positive note. Enjoy.

This “‘ewii kunyilly” (a species of the western diamond rattlesnake in Kumeyaay) was seen on the Stonewall Peak Trail this morning when it was a little cold for the snake to be peppy. Remember to stay on the trails and watch where you put your hands and feet and check out where you are going to sit before sitting. Rattlesnakes live here in Cuyamaca and we all need to keep a look out for them.

Oh no! It’s not even June and the falls at Green Valley are hardly moving! 😱 The water is moving so slowly that some of the areas with pools are not being refreshed and are starting to stagnate. Gross 🤢. A warm, dry winter and below average rainfall mean that Green Valley Falls is drying up. Bummer😩. Please keep this information in mind if you are planning to visit the falls area this summer.

This Memorial Day we remember all those service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. We also are thinking of the family and friends they left behind. May the passage of time soften the feelings of sadness and loss.

⚠️ Uh Oh. Just in time for summer, Green Valley Falls are not moving enough to clear out the areas where the water pools 😢. It was a warm dry winter and we have only received between 65-70% of our normal rain for the year. Please keep this is mind when planning on visiting the falls area this summer.

Here are some photos of wildflowers seen over the past week. On the left is a fairy lantern or globe lily (Calochortus albus). On the top right is a splendid mariposa lily (Calochortus splendens). If you look close you can see a bee in the center of the flower. The photo on the bottom right is of some diamond clarkias (Clarkia rhomboidea) on a stem. The flowers are in different stages of blooming. What wildflowers do you look forward to seeing when you visit the park? Please comment below.
