Very important to understand this initiative and the devastating consequences. One example - our farm would not be able to do artificial insemination for our pigs. No more piglets for 4H or humanely raised pork. (Most farmers do not have boars (males) on their farms, only sows (females). There are things that are more humane that are not understood by the general public in animal breeding.

Sharing this again... There are about 88,000 signatures gathered now to get this on the ballot next November. They need 120,000 by next July. If this gets on the ballot and passes it will devastate Oregon Agriculture. It will also criminalize hunting, fishing, wildlife management, varmint control on golf courses, your own home, classify breeding practices of animals as sexual assault plus more. Do not sign the petition, tell everyone you know about IP28, and not to sign the petition. This is extreme and will devastate agriculture livelihoods in Oregon.

Please educate yourself about this - we have a small family farm and give our animals a great life - part of that is artificial means of breeding. It is humane and part of the process to provide our family with humanely raised beef and pork. Small and medium family farms in Oregon work hard to make sure they do the right thing for all our animals and provide for our local communities. It is the circle of life - talk with your local farmer with any questions.

Do you know about IP28? If not, you should. It's a pretty scary initiative that would be detrimental, and devastating to Oregon Agriculture. Even non-farmers and ranchers would be affected. Please don't sign their petition and let your friends and family know that this would destroy our food and fiber supply along with the economic impact from hunting, fishing, golfing and other industries.

🚨 URGENT: Stand Up for Oregon’s Family Farms and Rural Businesses! 🚨

The DLCD’s recently proposed farmstand rules threaten countless agricultural livelihoods and the foundation of Oregon agriculture. These sweeping new restrictions risk shutting down beloved agritourism events, placing small farms in jeopardy.

Here’s what’s at stake:

❌ Family farms could face new, unnecessary permits just to sell their own products, hurting the heart of our ag economy.

❌ Beloved farm experiences—corn mazes, flower festivals, petting zoos, even farm-to-table dinners—are at risk of being banned or capped under these rules.

❌ Prepared food sales—from cider donuts to fresh shakes—remain unclear, creating confusion, lost revenue, and enforcement headaches.

❌ Local communities stand to lose cultural and economic hubs—from pumpkin patches to school field trips—that make Oregon unique.

Many counties offer no alternative permits, so these limits could mean the end of agritourism for entire regions.

We need rules that support, not suffocate, our Oregon Ag and businesses. I’m joining farmers, local business owners, and advocates across Oregon to demand DLCD rewrite these rules to truly protect what matters to rural Oregon.

Here’s how you can help:

📧 Email DLCD NOW at [email protected] and ask them to protect farmstands, ALL farms, and agritourism.

💬 Share your story or tag a farmstand you love in the comments.

🔁 Spread the word—Oregon’s rural future depends on it!

Speak up for the families and businesses who grow our food, shape our communities, and fuel our economy.

Cookie Givens 2015 - 2024 - it is with a sad heart that we let everyone know Cookie is now in piggy heaven with marshmallow roads and Gatorade streams. 🐷❤️ She lived a happy life, gave us lots of good babies, a grand champion market hog, and entertained kids and adults alike on barn tours. She taught us all about breeding, OSU trips in the middle of the night and how wonderful pigs can be. She is no longer in pain and lives on in our hearts and memories 💕😢💕

Today was a rough day 😢 we know the circle of life is how farms work but when you lose an animal without really knowing why and not planned- it is a little rougher. We lost our Mama G last night - the boys (Billy and Flash) aren’t sure what to do and neither does Matt - he was the only one that she would let pet and hug her. Rest in peace Mama G- you will be remembered fondly ❤️💔

When you have an ice storm and 20 degree temperatures- animals and barn chores take on new levels - I am thankful to have a husband that prepares, puts down straw and heat lamps for everyone and hand waters the animals when needed. He works hard for them 🥰 Thankful for the barn we put in 5 years ago 🙏
