Most chicken today lacks flavor.

It’s not your cooking—it’s the bird.

Modern chicken is bred to grow fast and raised in a way that prioritizes efficiency over taste.

We do things differently.

We take that same broiler bird - but raise it on pasture, and feed it freshly-milled, high-quality grain.

That combination changes everything.

Better environment. Better feed. Better chicken.

Pasture-raised isn’t a label - it’s a system that produces results.

Taste it for yourself.

You’ll know the difference after the first bite.

A small change this year...

We won’t be at the Kankakee Farmers’ Market every weekend.

You will find us there the first two Saturdays:
May 2 and May 9.

After that, we won’t be back at the market until late August.

Truth is - we don’t have enough chicken to be there full-time... and we won’t have beef this season.

By scaling back a little bit this year at the markets, we’re able to scale up where it matters most: production on pasture.

More focus on raising high-quality, pasture-raised chicken. Better systems on the farm (in our brooder and mobile shelters/

Personally, this gives us a little more time at home on Saturdays with our family.

Fresh farm pickup days will be back!!!

The best way to get those details is through our newsletter (link in our bio).

We’re looking forward to serving you this season.

We’ve been building something pretty cool this offseason...

This spring, we converted our old semi-trailer into a fully redesigned brooder house.

Every detail focused on three things: heat, air, and water.

Because the first 18 days matter most.

A strong start means healthier birds on pasture.

Healthier birds mean better flavor on your table.

It all traces back to the BROODER.

We will definitely describe the features in more detail in future posts... but we need to finish it first!

There’s something deeply comforting about a homemade pot of chicken soup in winter. Soup is a staple in our home, and anyone can make it with just one pot and a few simple ingredients.

Here’s exactly how we make it:

Homemade Chicken Soup
1 whole pasture-raised chicken
1 quart of water per pound of chicken
1–2 tablespoons salt
Your choice of vegetables and herbs

Steps

1. Place the whole chicken in a large pot. If you cut slightly at the joints, more nutrients and flavor are released.

2. Add water and salt.

3. Bring to a gentle boil for 15 minutes, skim surface impurities.

4. Reduce heat and simmer 1 ½–2 hours until the chicken is tender.

5. Remove the chicken and cool briefly.

6. Add chopped vegetables to the broth and simmer for about 45 minutes.

7. Shred chicken, return meat to the pot, and add herbs.

That’s it—no bouillon or packaged broth needed. Just real flavor from a real chicken.

If you want to make nourishing meals like this all winter, we have whole birds and individual cuts available. You can stock the freezer and make simple, filling meals anytime.

Never cooked a whole chicken? We’ve got you.

So many people have never cooked a whole bird—and we totally get it.

But it’s easier than you think, and we’re here to help with simple tips and a recipe that take the guesswork out of it.

1. Rinse the bird and pat dry. Brush the bird with melted butter and sprinkle generously with salt + pepper.
2. Cook @ 375 degrees, for 80-100 minutes (20 minutes per pound).
3. Carve and enjoy!

This isn’t gourmet. It’s real food, for real families.

You can do this—and once you do, you’ll wonder why you waited.
