A more sustainable school food program can start with how you handle food waste.

Salvajor Collector systems are an economical way to support food waste recycling and composting programs. By eliminating free liquids, Salvajor reduces the amount of food waste hauled to the landfill by half, helping schools lower hauling and tipping costs while also reducing methane gas production.

A practical step toward less waste, lower costs, and a more sustainable school kitchen.

Foodservice equipment technicians play a huge role in keeping the industry moving. When equipment needs attention, they’re the people operators count on to get things back up and running.

That’s why we were proud to have Michele Poteet representing Salvajor at this year’s Commercial Food Equipment Service Association Annual Conference in Lake Geneva!

The conference brought together technicians, manufacturers and industry leaders for a few days of learning, networking and sharing ideas.

Thanks to CFESA for another great conference!

Salvajor was proud to support the Heart of America Association’s first Lunch & Learn of the year at the The Kansas City Food Hub.

Hosted by Lee's Summit R-7 School District, the event brought together Child Nutrition professionals for a presentation from Jean Kinder, RDN, LD, Director of Food Services for Quincy Public School District 172. Jean shared how Quincy partnered with Amazon to pilot direct shipping of week-long summer meal kits, helping connect nutritious meals with 1,600 at-risk families in the community.

The group also took part in a Food as Medicine volunteer activity, packing boxes filled with local produce for at-risk households across the Kansas City area.

As a longtime Farm to School supporter, Salvajor is proud to support organizations working to address food access, strengthen local food systems and get healthy food into the hands of those who need it most.

68 years later, and Salvajor is still grinding away.
Here’s a look back at a 1958 Salvajor ad for the Model HK Waste-X-It, featured in Restaurant Equipment Dealer magazine.

With a 1½ HP motor and the ability to handle up to 210 gallons of food waste per hour, the Model HK was described as belonging in the “big disposer” class.

And apparently, it worked so fast you’d think it was MAGIC!

68 years later, that same spirit of strength and durability is still .

See how a Salvajor disposer system makes cleanup simple.

Dishes pass through the recirculated water plume, where food is scraped and rinsed away. The food waste is separated from the water and sent to the disposer, while the water returns to the tank to keep the process going.

When the job is done, the system automatically flushes the drain lines before shutting off. Drain the tank, remove the screens, rinse the components, and you’re ready for the next round.

It really is that easy. Save time, water, and energy while getting the job done.

We don’t clown around with food waste. Unless, of course, there are actual clowns involved! 🤡
Moccia Enterprises, Inc. knows how to make training fun, and their latest quarterly webinar featuring Salvajor was no exception.

This time, they brought in clowns to help Michele Poteet put Salvajor disposers to the test with a hilarious “Can We Grind It?” challenge.

Apples? ✅
Chicken? ✅
Eggshells? ❌
Silverware? ❌
HUMAN HANDS? ❌

Some of the items were played for laughs, but the message was serious: knowing what belongs in a disposer, and what doesn’t, is important.

Tanya Sieber also highlighted Salvajor Collector Systems, demonstrating just how much food waste can be diverted by piling up the garbage bags representing what could otherwise end up in the trash.

And Sheryl Reynolds kept the whole show moving from behind the training deck.

Moccia’s quarterly trainings consistently draw impressive attendance, and it’s easy to see why. They know how to take important topics, make them memorable, and have a little fun along the way.

Thanks to the Moccia team for letting Salvajor join the show, and to our resident clowns for helping us prove that food waste is serious business, even when the training isn't.
