Women's sorority at Emporia State University is seeking to fill the position of House Director (formerly called Housemother) for the 2026-2027 academic year.

1 bedroom / 1 bathroom suite provided. Meals provided when ESU is in session. All utilities provided, including Internet, streaming TV, free laundry, off-street parking.

Position is part-time year-round with flexible schedule. Additional local part-time job is encouraged.

House Director Duties:

• Prepare sack lunches - sack lunches are prepared Sunday - Thursday nights

• Do kitchen laundry - including wiping out all washers/dryers

• Prepare shopping list for sack lunches - cook will do this shopping

• Prepare shopping list for household supplies - HD will do this shopping

• Shopping, stocking of household supplies - toilet paper, cleaning supplies etc.

• Vendor / service provider contact - schedule maintenance as needed and be on-site while work is performed

• Maintain ongoing house maintenance/task list - keep a running list of tasks for handyman or other vendors

• Daily walk-thru (lights, doors, stove)

• Stock breakfast items Monday thru Friday

• Assist with resident move-in and check-out process as requested

• Other duties as assigned/needed - water fountain filter, disinfectant spray, salt/sweep porches, attend specific sorority events, treat kitchen and bathroom drains

• Successful candidate will be self-motivated and not require daily direct supervision. Excellent opportunity for retired teacher or person who loves to work with young adults.

Job Type: Part-time (average 15-20 hours per week)

Salary: approx $1,000/month

The last couple years we have showed up for Operation Breakthrough with birthday bags, books and volunteering at events. This year their big need is with the food and Hygiene Pantry specifically Hygiene products. We will be doing a drive at one of our fall events. So keep your eyes out for deals on: deodorant, pads with wings, toothpaste/toothbrushes, cleaning supplies, diapers, wipes etc. They sent over this video and it pulls those heart strings and shows what we do matters. Its not just little kids its families impacted.
