Sometimes it just hits me…

I own a business in a downtown metro city where people come from all over the world.

I came up with the concept, the recipes, the menu, the systems, and the processes. I’ve had to learn how to interview, hire, schedule, train, manage employees, track inventory, place commercial orders, send contracts and invoices, pay bills, handle taxes, run payroll, find repair people, understand P&L, KPIs… and YOLO. 😅

I’ve had to figure out all the moving pieces of the restaurant, catering, and food truck events each week.

And I did it with absolutely NO experience.

I had never worked in a restaurant. I had never been in a lead role. I had never been in accounting circles. And I don’t even cook at home… shhh. 🙃

Now here we are just past year 7!

We’ve been KC Favorites winners in 2023 and 2025, selected to be in the airport, served the NFL Draft, appeared in a Missouri commercial, served so many incredible companies across KC, and we have weekly regulars who continue to show up for us. 🫶🏻

It still blows my mind that little ole’ me was given this idea in my heart so people could eat healthy, whole food. 🥰

So if you’ve got a dream, don’t let lack of knowledge stop you. Don’t let age deter you. Don’t let other people shrink your ideas.

If it’s inside you, and you care about serving others, go for it.

Even if it doesn’t go exactly the way you imagined, every step will grow you into a stronger, wiser, braver version of yourself.

We want to address an internal review we received today connected to a delivery order from May 28.

The customer shared that they chose not to eat their lunch because of something a third-party delivery driver told them about our restaurant during delivery.

Unfortunately, the customer did not have the full context. Prior to this review being posted, we had already reported an issue with this driver to the ordering platform after the driver became upset during pickup, did not follow our designated catering pickup instructions, and handled the order carelessly.

The claim the customer reported from the delivery driver about our restaurant is false and extremely damaging. Food safety, cleanliness, and customer trust are things we take very seriously.

Because this involves a third-party delivery driver and a serious false statement about our business, we are handling it through the proper channels and providing documentation, including video footage and records, to support the investigation.

We felt it was important to address this because false claims can harm a small business. We are grateful for the customers who know our standards, our care, and the work we put into every order.

The Hungry Hatch is hiring part-time kitchen support help for Wednesday–Sunday daytime shifts — usually around 12:00–5:30 PM, with 4–6 hour shifts.

This is a great fit for someone who is:

✅ Comfortable working independently in a kitchen
✅ Able to stay on their feet and keep moving
✅ Willing to wash dishes, clean, prep, and jump in where needed
✅ Positive, respectful, and team-minded
✅ Able to follow directions and work cleanly
✅ Comfortable helping guests when needed
✅ Interested in being part of a small but growing restaurant

Restaurant experience is helpful, but not required — we’re happy to train the right person!

The Korean
Marinated tofu, pickled cucumbers and cabbage, crunchy carrots, sesame spinach, and our house Gochujang sauce.

This one is bright, fresh, a little tang, a little savory. A perfect lunch before your weekend starts!
