Meet James Beard award-winning chef Celina Tio of Belfry Collective! She is one of the talented local women contributing to the Bastille Day Pique-Nique, our French-style picnic for two (includes cocktail for two and a bottle of wine) that is on sale now. 🇫🇷🧺

Celina’s dish for the bag? A bold and savory Sweet Potato & Black Bean Salad with Chimichurri. 🍠🫘🌿

5 minutes with Celina:

What ingredient are you loving lately? Argentine Chorizo sausage - I make it, but it’s different than Mexican or Spanish Chorizo and makes the BEST sandwich.

Favorite cooking item that you couldn’t live without? Small victorinox plastic paring knife. : )

Favorite meal as a kid? My dad would make braised pork in a crock pot and towards the end would add hard boiled eggs. Even though the yolk was definitely hard cooked and olive green on the outside, it was the most porky, rich, delicious hard boiled egg you could ever eat.

A chef that inspired you? Julian Child and my Grandfather, Julian. That’s why my first restaurant was called JULIAN - combined my two culinary inspirations together.

What’s your picnic basket essential? Manchego cheese
What are you ordering for happy hour? Bourbon, Rye, or a crisp white wine.

What do you love most about running your restaurant? Learning new things (how to take apart my pasta machine to fix it) and engaging with guests - new ones and regulars.

If your dish was a Disney character, which character would it be? Pluto (he looks like a sweet potato) and Mushu (because he’s spicy hahah).

Bags sold out last year, so don’t delay: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bastille-day-pique-nique-by-les-dames-descoffier-tickets-1987363096520?aff=oddtdtcreator! 🔥
