When two friends with a passion for food spend time in the kitchen great recipes are born. Introduce a wide selection of premium spirits and vanilla beans into the mix and a specialty food company is born: VAIN Foods. Our first bottling session was an exercise in challenging the norms of vanilla extract. Why not match the flavor profiles of the beans to the characteristics of the spirits used to e

xtract those flavors? Why not add other natural flavors to enhance the extracts and broaden their appeal? In short why not make a vanilla that wasn’t so “vanilla”. Beans were split, bottles were filled, and we waited while the contents aged and the flavors mingled and intensified. When we opened those first bottles we knew we had stumbled on something special. When we distributed some of the bottles to our like minded foodie friends and saw their reactions we knew we had a potential business. VAIN Foods was formed with one goal in mind: to share our passion for hand crafted, all natural bottle conditioned vanillas and flavorings with like minded uncompromising consumers. We are excited and proud to say that we are VAIN, and once you try our extracts and flavorings we think you will be too.

Peaches are the fruit of summer, so naturally, they’re going in the cake! 🍑

We took our simple Buttermilk Cake recipe and swapped the raspberries for fresh, seasonal peaches, paired with our Mexican Vanilla Extracted in Apple Brandy for a warm, fruity flavor that complements them beautifully.

That’s one of our favorite things about baking with the seasons: start with a great recipe, use what’s fresh, and choose a vanilla that brings those flavors to life. Same simple cake. A little summer twist. 🍑💛

One of my favorite things about vanilla is that they don’t all taste the same, and I love choosing one based on what I’m making! 😍🍪

If I’m making something fruit forward, like apple pie or grilled peaches, I’ll reach for our Mexican Vanilla Beans extracted in Apple Brandy. For something bright and citrusy, our Tongan Vanilla Beans extracted in our house made Orange Liqueur is my go-to. 🍊

A little tip from my kitchen to yours: the right vanilla really can make all the difference. ✨
