Englewood Community Farm

Englewood Community Farm Our farm is your farm Right now, we’re a lawn connected to a food pantry on a large piece of property owned by Englewood Church. Let’s start growing together.

We want to grow food together in our community and provide a place in North Kansas City area for connections to other great learning and growing farms in Kansas City. We want, with your helping hands, wisdom, experience and ideas, to grow into a blossoming farm that can feed our neighborhood and supply the food pantry. This page is a way for us to connect with you – to share our journey together and to hear from you. We are so excited, but we need your help. Mark Buhlig

Fun morning on the farm! ☕️ to keep us warm in the 20 degrees. We filled raised beds with soil, got seedlings prepared, and did some planning around the fire.

a piece of paper and a writing utensil
a quantity of soil or ashes mixed with a bit of oil in a small container (if you would like a quantity of ashes to be delivered to you - in the KC metro area, leave a comment below or send a private message)
a small bowl of water

We will meet by zoom as we do on Sunday mornings at the usual zoom link. You are welcome to invite friends and family to join us.

Prayer on Inauguration Day. What a good idea!

What better way to spend some time on Inauguration Day than to pray for our nation, our next president, our governing bodies, and all of our concerns and hopes related to these.

Here’s the link to the page on Pinnacle’s website with more info about how to join others that day in prayer: https://www.pinnlead.com/praying-the-hours

Our final Christmastide reflection...

6th Day of Christmas and the last reflection from our Advent 2020 Book:

From Robin Sandbothe, Co-Pastor, Gladstone, Missouri

The Word became flesh and blood,
and moved into the neighborhood.
We saw the glory with our own eyes,
the one-of-a-kind glory,
like Father, like Son,
Generous inside and out,
true from start to finish. –John 1:14 (The Message)

It happens every year. We begin Advent anticipating the Christ-child’s arrival. We wait. We decorate our homes and our sanctuary with symbols that remind us of what is to come. We wait. We sing O Come, O Come, Emmanuel. We wait. We light candles every week and watch as each of them burns lower and lower. We wait. We pray about the coming of hope, of peace, of joy, of love. We wait.

Then, finally, Christmas Eve arrives and the nativity scene is complete with baby Jesus in the manger. We finally sing Christmas carols and hear the Christmas story. We turn all the lights off in the sanctuary (or this year at home while we meet by Zoom) and light our candles and hold them as we sing Silent Night. It is solemn and joyous at the same time.

God is with us!

And yet, God has been with us all along. It’s a paradox. Don’t think about it too much or it will make your head hurt. Just rejoice that even as we anticipate Christ’s coming every Advent, he’s already in our midst. The Word has become flesh and moved into the neighborhood, as it says in the Message version of John’s gospel.
