Since 1958, we have been making taco night better. Our family recipe started with our founder, Luis Silva, at his restaurant and has stayed true to that recipe to this day. Small batches, high quality ingredients and staying true to his vision.

Before Spanish Gardens Foods became a family tradition found in kitchens across Kansas City, it began as a neighborhood restaurant serving tacos, enchiladas, burritos, tamales and Mexican chili—all made with the signature family sauce that started it all.

Before Spanish Gardens became a Kansas City tradition, it began with one man, a collection of family recipes and a determination to build something lasting.

Our founder, Luis Silva, came to Kansas City from Guadalajara, Mexico, and opened Spanish Gardens Taco House in the Argentine neighborhood of Kansas City, Kansas, in 1958. He welcomed guests with tacos, enchiladas, tamales, burritos and Mexican chili—all served with the signature taco sauce that quickly became a local favorite. As demand grew, Luis spent more of his time bottling sauce and making tortillas for families to enjoy beyond the restaurant.

Luis passed away in 1976, but the foundation he built remains at the heart of everything we do. Today, the third generation of our family is proud to continue his work, producing the recipes he shared and carrying forward his commitment to family, quality and the Argentine community. Every bottle tells part of his story—and helps bring another family together around the table.
