WOW! What a weekend! The National Valais Show in Iowa is fantastic! So much to do, so many beautiful sheep and great, knowledgeable people to talk with. It can be a little overwhelming. But I love it! Every year the show gets better and bigger and the sheep more amazing.
After earning a couple of ribbons in the show ring on Friday afternoon, the highlight of the show for me was the Fancy Dress contest. My sheep have pulled the ‘Happy Birthday America’ wagon in parades over the summer, so naturally I decided to enter it in the show. (Thanks to everyone that helped me get it into the ring) I love these good natured sheep! Awarded 2nd place

Day 2 (yesterday) was a full day of showing. 3 sheep were awarded 2 ribbons, the ewe was 1 off, the young ram was 5th and the older ram was 4th. More importantly he graded 2-4-4 which is only 2 points off of maximum points. He was marked down because of the appearance of his wool, a little too cotted, and no long beautiful face wool. Gotta take him back next year!

Got to the fairgrounds around 8pm, it was still raining. Got the pens set up and the sheep unloaded and fed. Made it to the motel around 1am, 6 hours sleep and then back to the barn. Got the ewe lamb all cleaned up for her debut. She got sixth with a point ranking of 3 3 4. A perfect ranking would be 4 4 4.
