Some days on the farm are filled with joy, and others remind us just how hard this life can be.
Today was one of the hard ones.
Our sweet Houdini girl, D.B., surprised us by giving birth to quads. Sadly, despite our best efforts, we lost both of the twin girls. As if that wasn’t enough, D.B. suffered a prolapse shortly after kidding.
After doing everything I could at home, I knew it was time to call our amazing veterinarian. They got us in immediately, helped get the swelling under control with medication, and were able to get everything back where it belongs. We are incredibly grateful for their quick care and compassion.
Now we wait, pray, and watch her closely, hoping she continues to heal and doesn’t prolapse again over the next several days.
While today brought heartbreak, it also brought hope. We are so thankful that one beautiful little buckling and one precious doeling are doing well. They are absolutely adorable, and we’re soaking up every snuggle with them.
Farm life is beautiful, but it can also be heartbreaking. Thank you to everyone who checks in on our animals, supports our little farm, and celebrates the highs while standing with us through the lows. We’d appreciate any prayers and positive thoughts for D.B. as she recovers. ❤️🐐
