Our community has lost a great man, a true friend, and a dedicated farmer. We will always cherish our memories with Rusty and will deeply miss his love for good conversation and the way he could turn any pickup tailgate into a place of laughter and storytelling.

He was the hardest worker we knew, always someone you could count on, and a great teacher—especially when it came to baling hay. Rusty led by example, and his work ethic and kindness left a mark on all of us.

He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.

This week, we said goodbye to one of the quiet forces behind Arnusch Farms—our beloved mom and grandmother. She passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s and dementia, but not before leaving a legacy rooted deeply in this soil.

She wasn’t always behind the wheel of a tractor, but make no mistake, this farm would not be what it is today without her. Her strength, support, and belief in our work carried us through seasons of uncertainty and growth alike.

She loved this land. To her, the prairie was home, and the farm was part of the family. She couldn’t imagine one without the other.

Though she’s no longer with us in the everyday rhythm of farm life, her presence is everywhere—in the sunrise over the fields, in the values we carry, and in the grit that keeps us going.

We’ll miss her dearly. But her spirit will always ride with us in the work we do and the land we love. We love you Mom, and we will see you again someday.

We had the pleasure of hosting two awesome farmers from southern Australia, Jana and Brett Freebairn, for a tour of the farm today. They came to check out the value-added crops we grow, how we market and the agronomic principles that keep our operation moving forward.

From fields to the seed warehouse and storage, we showed the ins and outs of our farm- plus, in a true farmer-to-farmer moment, our Brett gave the other Brett a ride while planting barley.

We love learning from farmers around the world and sharing what we do here- because farming isn’t just local, it’s global.

Exciting news from ! We’re teaming up with New Belgium Brewing - Fort Collins, Montana State University, and Proximity Malt to trial new barley varieties that use less water while still making great beer. Because what’s better than a cold one? A water-wise, cold one!

This experiment could help shape the future of brewing—one barley crop at a time. Stay tuned for updates, and remember… your next favorite beer might just be growing on our farm!

Meet the newest member of our team, Jason Griesel! Originally from South Africa, Jason made his way to our farm in December 2024 and has really hit the ground running. With his farming experience from back home, in North Dakota, and in Oklahoma, he has become an ideal fit as our Technician 3. Jason will be a huge asset to the farm as we begin prepping fields and planting, and we can't wait to see all he can accomplish during harvest and beyond.

Over the last week, we have been reflecting on our experiences from Farm Journal’s Top Producer Summit and the dominant word that comes to mind is grateful. We are grateful for our mentors that helped pave the way for our farm, the lessons we’ve learned, and our team. Especially after this event, we all take great pride in our people, our farm, and everything that has led us to where we are now. Being named Top Producer of the year is such an honor and a humbling experience all at the same time. Marc is looking forward to his next 30 years of farming and uplifting the next generation of Top Producers. Thank you, Farm Journal!

We often get the question, “so, what do you do in the winter when you’re not farming?”

The answer? We use this time to prepare for success, and it all starts in the shop making sure our equipment is field ready. Each machine is carefully inspected, serviced and repairs made, because time is the one thing we run short of when spring rolls around.

In 2024, we experienced no down-time in the field, which is our goal again in 2025. Judging by the work in the shop thus far, it feels like we are off to a good start.
