Two heifer calves looking for new pastures. 75% or more South Poll (unregistered) crossed with Red Angus. #29 born April 25th, #32 born May 2nd. Grass fed herd, no vaccinations etc. Both are eating grass and hay well.

Late Wednesday night, #16, the heifer in our profile picture, became a first time mom after some theatrics that make you question why you own cattle. All is well that ends well though!

We are starting our 3rd grazing pass today on 42 days of rest. It's 95 degrees with a heat index bouncing between 108 and 113 degrees. These red cows don't seem to mind it one bit. They've used the shade trees for maybe an hour today.

Almost stepped on a surprise calf this evening doing chores. 5th calf of the year. Took me a minute to figure who the mother was. Turns out it was Bingo ( #17) with the delivery of her first calf!
