You know you’re in for some serious eats when you see lobsters 🦞 offering paper towels above each indoor picnic table.

The menu offers everything you would expect from a harbor side restaurant. The fish and chips are light and crispy and done perfectly. But the real star of the show was the friendliest service I’ve encountered in some time.

Love a welcoming display of a lobster tank and fresh local oysters on ice.

Started with a 1/2 dozen cold, briny norumbega’s. Added a bowl of lobster bisque that was made even richer with a drizzle of olive oil.

Then the “Maine” course: Seafood newberg; Lobster, scallops, and shrimp in a sherry cream sauce with a breading crumble on top. Along with crispy crab cakes. Minimal breading and ample crab with a lemon basil aioli that served as a welcome departure from the traditional remoulade.

Even though the meal was quite rich, we couldn’t say no to the carrot cake and blueberry pie ala mode.

Every component was spot on and you could tell the menu is taken seriously. Just proving why Robert's Maine Grill is a fan favorite on The Lobster Trail. If you only make one stop, you can’t go wrong here.

The Trail isn’t just about lobster. Some of the best bites come when you branch out a little. The duck confit poutine at Duck Fat is pure comfort food done right. It’s duck confit piled over crispy Belgian frites with gravy and local cheese curds. Then finish it off with their wild Maine blueberry buttermilk shake. Worth the trip to Portland all by itself. This place earns every bit of the hype.
