Would you like free lobster for a year? That's the grand prize in Maine's Billion Egg Challenge, and you don't have to be a lobsterman to enter.

Here's the real story behind it. The Maine Lobstermen's Association is running a statewide push to protect a billion lobster eggs in 2026 through V-notching, marking egg-bearing females so they're protected from harvest. Every notch protects roughly 10,000 eggs. Three teams are already competing, and they've protected over 397 million eggs so far.

You can support a team (Southern Maine Future Catch, Downeast Tail Pinchers, or Midcoast Notchmen) or donate to the effort, and every entry gives you a shot at that year of free lobster. It's a good cause with a great prize attached.

Thank's to those who joined us on the Puffins and Popover tour. Here is just a little recap of Puffins, popovers, a clambake, cheesecake, and a nap on the rocks plus much more. Our first custom tour packed in a lot, and it was an honor to share it with such a great crew. Full recap in the blog.

We took 6 friends on a custom Maine coastal road trip from Portland to Cutler for puffins and back down for popovers, lobster, and lots of laughs.

As our Puffins & Popovers adventure comes to a close, I wanted to share a few of my favorite wildlife pics from an unforgettable week along the Maine coast.

To everyone who traveled with us, thank you for your laughter, your curiosity, and your wonderful company. I hope you leave with full hearts, (and bellies) incredible photos, and lasting memories of Maine’s rugged coastline, charming harbors, fresh seafood, and, of course, our beloved puffins.

Until we meet again, safe travels, fair winds, and may a little piece of Maine stay with you wherever your next adventure takes you.

The Puffins & Popovers tour may be winding down, but Maine still has a few more surprises in store.

Today we enjoyed a little Troll Stroll through the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, where art and nature come together in spectacular fashion. Then it was off to another guest favorite; a classic clambake at Cabbage Island Clambakes; complete with steamed lobster, clams, and all the traditional fixings.

One more unforgettable Maine day in the books! 🦞🌲

Mother Nature had other plans for our Puffins and Popover tour this morning. Wind, rain, and thick fog turned our planned sunrise atop Cadillac Mountain into a bit of a bust.

Fortunately, our spirits lifted the moment the famous popovers arrived at Jordan Pond House ☕ From there, we enjoyed a beautiful hike around Jordan Pond and made our way to the iconic Bubble Rock. Lastly, a drive around Park Loop, taking in Sand Beach Thunder Hole and Otter Cliffs.

But the day’s biggest hit? Dinner at Bar Harbor Lobster Pound 🦞 Fresh Maine lobster, rich lobster bisque served in a bread bowl, and the perfect finish; a slice of wild Maine blueberry pie à la mode.

Sometimes the best days aren’t the ones you planned, they’re the ones that surprise you.

As we often say, Maine rewards the early riser.

Before heading to Bar Harbor, we set out for Coffee on the Coast, a quiet coastal hike. The early start paid off with breathtaking cliffside views, the sound of the surf below, and a curious harbor seal happily frolicking in the Gulf of Maine below. He appears just long enough to say “Good Morning, nice to see ya”.

Not a bad way to start the day. ☕🦭

Success! 🐧

Our Bold Coast Charter Company puffin excursion was a huge success! After keeping a close eye on the weather earlier in the week, Mother Nature delivered, giving us calm seas and an unforgettable day on the water.

We were treated to incredible views of Atlantic puffins, Razorbills, Arctic Terns and the rugged Maine coastline.

Then a little nap on the rocks at Jasper Beach.

One of those experiences that reminds you just how special this corner of the world is.

Day 1 is in the books! We wrap up the evening in Machias with a relaxing charcuterie spread and great company.

Now it’s time to rest up, tomorrow is the day we’ve all been waiting for… PUFFINS! ! 🐧Here’s hoping for calm seas and unforgettable sightings.
