The Vanstrom Homestead

The Vanstrom Homestead Connecting people to their food through our pasture-based livestock farm. We are a small family farm in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains.

Our little valley has been blessed with green grass, clean, plentiful water, and great people. We'd like to keep it that way, so we try our hardest to make sure we're taking care of this corner of the world. Grass fed meat products can be bought on the farm or by calling/texting Sam at 338-6151. Prices are generally about the same as at the grocery store, but the quality is out of this world in comparison.

We finally took the new seeding down and let's just say, "at least we have bedding." It's green underneath though and everything had plenty of time to re-seed, so here's hoping for the best. The rest of this year and the next 5-10yrs.

They say good fences make good neighbors. We really enjoy Al's black cows but it probly is best if we keep them seperate huh. Eric finally got the new field fenced along the road after several hiccups along the way. Now to teach the critters they can go that far over.

P.S. that's NO filter yall, we really live in the prettiest lil valley. ❤️

We just might 2x the flock sooner than planned... 😅 Eric didn't say no and Sam made an impulse buy. These are Southdown ewes we got for a decent price out of Ohio. It'll be fun to see what kind of monsters their Texel cross babies will be! We just might even end up w something to compete with in next year's fair.

Happy 3rd of July folks, and happy 19 years of wedded bliss to yours truly. Its been a roller coaster for sure, but we wouldn't change a thing. Don't worry, hay was last night. We took er easy in Allegany St Park again today.
