Kennett Community Grocer

Kennett Community Grocer OPENING 2026: A community-owned (co-op) grocery store in Kennett Square, PA that offers quality local food from Chester County-area farmers/producers.

By shopping local, your grocery dollars strengthen your local economy, not a big corporation. KCG will be a member-owned, one-stop grocery store/community space providing Kennett Square with nutritious and delicious food, create living-wage jobs, and provide access to healthful nutrition education. We have a clear mission, passionate Member-Owners, and overwhelming community support to open a food co-op for all residents which can build and sustain the power of "local."

Hi. Rachel here! 🍄

I had the chance to visit Phillips Mushroom Farms last week, and Linda and Bill were so incredibly welcoming and hospitable.

Bill took me through several of the growing facilities, where I got to see certified organic gourmet mushroom varieties being cultivated — so cool! The growing rooms felt misty, abundant, and full of life. He also showed me the packaging and fulfillment area, where mushrooms move straight from harvest to being packaged, boxed, palletized, and prepared to head out for orders. Linda also walked me through their mushroom exhibit, which was a fun experience. 🍄

They generously sent me home with so many amazing goodies that we hope to carry at Kennett Community Grocer. The products pictured here are only some of what they offer, and we’re excited about the possibility of bringing even more into the store.

Be sure to check out their website and retail store — and keep an eye out for Phillips Mushroom Farms products at KCG this year. 💛

We’re so grateful for the time, energy, and heart they continue to pour into bringing this community-owned grocery store to life. 💛

We had planned to share this video during our Annual Member Meeting, but ran into some technical difficulties. We wanted to make sure everyone still had a chance to see it here.

This short video about Argus Farm Stop highlights a model that has been incredibly inspiring to us as we work toward opening Kennett Community Grocer.

We went inside the most unique grocery store in the country: Argus ...

Our Annual Meeting is coming up in just a couple days, and behind the scenes there’s been lots of planning and organizing leading up to it. 🍄✨

Our board is really looking forward to gathering with the community again, sharing updates, talking about what’s ahead for KCG, and connecting with member-owners and supporters.

As a community-owned co-op, these meetings are an important chance for members to participate in shaping the future of KCG while also celebrating how far this project has already come.

Rachel here! 🍄

I recently had lunch at Sovana Bistro with a friend and was reminded how lucky we are to have places like Sovana and The Pear in our community — beautiful spaces, great food, and people who genuinely support local causes.

On Wednesday, May 27th, both Sovana Bistro and The Pear will be donating 15% of participating sales back to Kennett Community Grocer through their Dine & Donate event. đź’›

If you’ve been meaning to plan a lunch date, dinner out, or drinks with friends, this is the perfect excuse to support local businesses while also supporting KCG.

Just mention Kennett Community Grocer when ordering. 🍽️✨ And thank you for your support!

Hello everyone, Rachel here! đź‘‹

For Mother’s Day this year, all I wanted to do was wander an art market — and the Art Star Craft Bazaar at Cherry Street Pier in Philly did not disappoint.✨

Spending a day surrounded by artists, makers, and creative people honestly feels like the best possible reset for me, and I was especially excited to meet two incredibly talented makers who will soon be selling their products at Kennett Community Grocer. 🍄

Swipe to learn more about these amazing local vendors and their work. We’re so excited to welcome them into our growing producer community. 💛
