Thank you to all who voted for our Blueberry Pie cream ale at the 2026 Dairy State Cheese & Beer Festival!! We won 2nd place amongst all the great homebrews that were there and had an amazing time as well. Looking forward to next year's event and pouring our brews at the Freeport, Il brewfest in September.

It's been a fun and creative few weeks for us here at Southport Homebrewing Club. We finally made our own jockey box, and we also made an adapter to use our brewing pump to push PBW and Starsan through the tap lines without having to waste CO2. So excited for its inaugural run at Dairy State Cheese & Beer Festival!! See you soon!!

For those used to buy brewing supplies from Growmasters in Gurnee, Il, you may recognize this grain mill. When they decided to stop selling brewing supplies, I made a offer on their mill table and they happily accepted. This mill has crushed may thousands of pounds of grain and has served many homebrewers in the Wisconsin and northern Illinois area and i felt the need to add it to my setup. As you can see, I removed the motor and took it out of the table so it was easier to use in my home. Before setting it up for use in my home it was given a deep clean and some fresh lubricant in the bushings. When reassembled, It tore through 14 lbs of grain in just under a minute and those grains were used to make a Scottish Wee Heavy that will be served at the Dairy State Cheese & Beer Festival in April. We look forward to seeing you all there!!

Good things are heading to Fond du Lac Brewfest this weekend!! All of our brews have been kegged and are on co2 and our decorations for our booth are on the way!! That beautiful purple brew in the bucket is our Blueberry Short Stack pancake ale. It's made with 96 ounces of Blueberry puree goodness, pancakes (yes!! Pancakes!!), and 16 ounces of the best Wisconsin maple syrup made by my friend, Peggy Martin!! The Orange juice concentrate and Mexican vanilla are for the California Dreamin Vanilla Orange Cream ale and the Campfire S'more Stout has had its graham cracker flavoring added to it and weighs in at 8% abv. We are looking forward to seeing you all there!! Cheers!!🍻🍻🍻

Hey everyone!! It's been a long time since our first post from early last year but it's been a crazy roller coaster for me and mine. I am glad to say that I have not been slacking in our brewing and am happy to share a few updates. Since out debut at the 2024 Dairy State Cheese & Beer Festival , I have had the honor of marrying the most amazing woman, Mari Loulou. She is an inspiration to me and is always encouraging me to do more with our brewing. Most recently we returned to the Dairy State festival (2025), and won 3rd place for our California Dreamin Vanilla Orange Cream ale! We were also serving up a Campfire S'more porter and Not You're Father's Corona 6.7% Mexican lager. Currently, we are brewing a Raspberry Berlinerweiss, Blueberry Pie cream ale and a Oktoberfest ale for my daughter's wedding this October. We will also have the Mexican lager available for the guests as well. Also, a group of us brewed up 55 gallons of imperial stout last year and aged it in a Driftless Glen Rye Whiskey barrel and we finally kegged it 2 weeks ago. It's beautifully smooth and has very nice coffee and chocolate notes. Well thats it for now but I hope you are brewing well and having a great summer! Hope to be able to share some more adventures in Homebrewing soon!!

Yesterday I had the pleasure of brewing up 55 gallons of Russian Imperial Stout with my friends from Otter Door Brewing. This brew is going to be aged in a 55 gallon bourbon barrel from Driftless Glen for the next year. Looking forward to our tasting party!!
