🐄 LET’S TALK ABOUT THE WOMAN BEHIND THE COW. 😂🍦
I figured today I’d do something a little different and tell you a little about ME—the owner, boss, cook, cleaner, scheduler, order placer, payroll department, problem solver, staff mom, occasional therapist, and professional wearer of approximately 47 different hats. 😂
A lot of you know me, but I’m sure there are a few who don’t. And if you’ve ever wondered who is running around the KDB like she has absolutely no idea what day it is… 👋🏻 Hi. It’s me. I’m the problem. 😂
During our open season, I am basically at the shop 7 days a week. I cook, I order, I schedule, I do payroll, I clean, I fix things, I answer questions, I solve problems, and occasionally I just stand in the middle of the kitchen wondering what I walked in there for. 😂
Being the sole owner means if something needs done, there’s a pretty good chance I’m the one doing it. And if I don’t know how to do it? Well… Google and YouTube have taught me a LOT over the last four years. 😂
Then there’s my family.
I have two kids who occasionally work at the KDB during the summer months, which is a fantastic way to combine parenting and employment into one convenient location. 😂 And my husband is officially the KDB maintenance department. 🔧
If something breaks, I attempt to fix it through phone instructions first.
“Okay, go look at this.”
“No, the OTHER thing.”
“Is it plugged in?”
“Okay, never mind. Just come here.” 😂
Thankfully, he usually shows up and gets it fixed. He has probably earned more frequent flyer miles to the KDB than anyone else.
When I’m not at the KDB, I love being outside… although my definition of “being outside” these days usually involves sitting in a folding chair at a sporting event or driving my children to and from practices. 🏃♀️⚾⛳
Basically, I’m either at the KDB or acting as a personal Uber driver for my children. There is very little middle ground. 😂
Before purchasing the KDB, I worked as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, and for those who have wondered what I do during the off-season—yep, I go right back to it! I work in nursing homes because I genuinely LOVE that career too.
Apparently, relaxing is just not really my thing. 😂
When my husband and I purchased the KDB four years ago, I remember being absolutely terrified. There was so much unknown. Would people support us? Would it do as well as we hoped? Would we be able to maintain the reputation this place had always carried?
Four years later, I can honestly say we have poured our heart, soul, sweat, tears, and probably an unreasonable amount of our sanity into this place. 😂❤️
We have worked incredibly hard to make the KDB what it is today while staying true to what we always wanted it to be—a place where families and friends can come together, enjoy an affordable and delicious meal, grab some ice cream, and hopefully leave happy and with a full belly.
This little business has become a HUGE part of our lives, and we are so incredibly grateful for the community that continues to support us.
Every order, every ice cream cone, every burger, every “we’ll be back tomorrow,” and every person who chooses to spend their money with us means more than you probably realize.
We truly hope to keep doing this for many years to come. ❤️
So, the next time you see me running around the KDB looking slightly frazzled, carrying five things, answering a question while trying to cook something and probably yelling for someone to grab more napkins…
Just know this is exactly how I planned my life. 😂😂
Okay, maybe not exactly.
But I wouldn’t trade it. ❤️🐄🍦
Thank you for supporting our crazy little corner of the world. We appreciate you more than you know!
