Know your beekeeper!

It sounds shocking, but honey fraud is a well-documented global problem. Numerous investigations by food safety authorities and independent labs have found that a large portion of commercial honey is diluted or replaced with inexpensive sugar syrups, often derived from corn, rice, or beet sugar.

The issue comes from ultra-filtering and adulteration, processes that remove pollen and make it nearly impossible to trace the honey’s origin. Once pollen is stripped away, syrups can be added without easy detection, allowing fake honey to pass basic inspections while lacking the nutritional and antimicrobial properties of real honey.

Authentic honey naturally contains pollen, enzymes, antioxidants, and trace compounds that support gut health and immunity. Syrup-based substitutes provide sweetness but none of the biological benefits that make honey valuable.

Experts recommend buying raw, unfiltered honey from local beekeepers or brands that publish third-party lab testing. In food systems built around mass production and low cost, this is another reminder that labels don’t always tell the full story.

We’re set up at the Ducktail Run car show at the Gas City, IN park today through Saturday until 10:00 pm and Sunday until around 2:00 pm. Starts at 8:00 am everyday! Come see us!

We’re at the Matthew’s, IN Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival today until 9:00 pm, tomorrow from 9:00 am - 9:00 pm or so and Sunday 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. We have a very limited selection of comb honey and a variety of jars and squeeze bottles and bears and lots of beeswax and beeswax candles! Come see us!

We will be set up at the Matthews Covered Bridge Festival in Matthews, IN on Sept 5-7. We're in the first row closest to the bridge/river in the grassy area---NOT IN TOWN. I know a few people looked for us in town last year---we're on the north side of the bridge as usual.

Also, we will be set up at the Ducktail Run in Gas City, IN on Sept 25-28. We will be in our usual location behind the brick restrooms north of the food vendors.

We are coming a couple days early for both festivals, so if you need to pick up honey at our hotel or meet us somewhere in town---please text me and we'll make arrangements! 765-432-8585 We're staying at the Holiday Inn Express at the Gas City exit on I-69 for the Bridge Festival and the Best Western on the opposite side of that interchange for the Ducktail!!!

We still have one pound squeeze bottles, 12 oz glass jars, 1 1/2 lb. pint jars and 3 lb. quart jars of Indiana honey left if anyone wants any! We are still going back and forth for doc appoints, etc. or to visit friends, so I can bring it with me if anyone wants any. We still have hives in Indiana and we're signed up for the Duck Tail Run in Gas City, IN the end of September.

We are actually heading to Indiana tomorrow and will be there until Saturday morning this week if anyone wants to put in a request before we leave in the morning! I can pack honey to bring back with us! Let me know ASAP! Either respond here or text me at 765-432-8585.
