Know your beekeeper!
The domestic beekeeping industry is facing an existential crisis as American beekeepers, represented by major producers like Adee Honey Farms, wage an intense legal battle against global honey importers, packers and certifiers. Central to class-action litigation is the accusation of widespread “economically motivated adulteration”—a sophisticated scheme where pure honey is systematically diluted with cheap, industrial sugar syrups derived from rice, beets, and cassava. By using advanced chemistry to mimic natural honey and evade outdated border testing, foreign producers have flooded U.S. supermarket shelves with ultra-cheap, counterfeit alternatives. This massive influx of artificial supply has severely suppressed wholesale prices, undercutting genuine domestic products and driving local multi-generation apiaries to the brink of bankruptcy. Beyond the immediate financial collapse of American farmers, experts warn that the systematic eradication of commercial beekeeping threatens the entire U.S. agricultural system, as honeybees serve as irreplaceable pollinators for over a third of the nation’s food crops.
