This fawn has been showing up in various places around the farm the last 2 days. We’re going to let her be and assume mama is taking care of her. She’s so darn cute, but also, I don’t want any more deer 😩

We are so lucky to have the best help every season! The right person comes along exactly when we need them which is true again this year. Let me introduce you to Cass who has been working here the last month.

Cass is a multi-disciplinary artist living in Akron. She was raised in rural Ohio and has been growing flowers and food as long as she can remember. After earning a BA with majors in psychology and sociology, she worked in social services for eight years. She left case management in 2025 and opened a chain mail jewelry business, Steely Dame. When she’s not on the farm or making chain, you can find her working in her own growing spaces, cyanotype printmaking, foraging, hiking or camping. You can find her jewelry at steelydame.bigcartel.com or in person at The Rookery in Kenmore and Ascendant Beauty in Cuyahoga Falls.

Here’s what I made for my gatherings today using produce from the farm stand: 1) canapés with sourdough, cilantro and chive cream cheese, thin-sliced radishes, violas and chive blossoms. 2) a big ole salad with our spring lettuce, sunflower microgreens, violas, radishes and croutons. What did you all make?

Thanks for keeping it local with us this weekend!

Today in the farm stand we have snap peas (our earliest ever), radishes, spring lettuce, cilantro, sunflower microgreens, edible flowers (top shelf of fridge), vegetable, flower and herb starts (see previous post for the list) and gorgeous, deluxe 13” hanging baskets (great for gifts!). Catherine brought sourdough granola and goodies in the freezer including cubed bread so you can make your own croutons. Pair it with our salad fixings and you have your dish for the BBQ all set.
