The full name of this iconic drink is βBαΊ‘c TαΊ©y Xα»u PhΓ©.β Simply put, it is a glass of hot milk accented with just a splash of aromatic coffee.
Legend has it that during the French colonial era, black coffee was often too bold and bitter for women and children. To soften the edge, Saigonese began adding generous amounts of condensed milk, using just a touch of coffee to preserve the aroma while creating a sweet, creamy, and easy-to-drink treat. And so, Bac Xiu was born - sweet, smooth, and velvety, with a graceful, lingering hint of coffee.
