Most recently, he initiated Vino Ombrello, as a parent company that oversees wine sourcing, restaurant/beverage consultation, and culinary events & education. Alex cut his teeth in Sales as a Division Wine Manager at Young’s Market Company, a brief stint creating his own wine brand-JAC Wines with a childhood friend, followed by four years at Vinfolio-Director of Sourcing/Domestic Wine Buyer and proceeded to Minerality Wines (Bibi Graetz, Roberto Voerzio, San Filippo) where he supplied a small Italian Portfolio to the US Market. Previous to his sales career, Alex experimented in other positions such as Whiskey Brand Ambassador for William Grant's Scotch brands-Balvenie & Glenfiddich and has spent many years honing his service expertise at a range of fine dining destinations, including in the triple role of restaurant manager, wine director and sommelier at San Francisco’s landmark Clift hotel. As a graduate of the Hotel and Restaurant Management Program at Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, Alex has since earned his certifications in WSET Advanced-Passed with Distinction, Certified Sommelier from Court of Master Sommeliers, Certified Specialist of Wine and looking towards future recognition in the Masters of Wine program.
