Murphy's Food King We are a full-service grocery store located in Kentland. We look forward to serving you! He re-named the store Murphy’s Food King.

In 1944 Charles and Dorothea Murphy opened Murphy’s IGA Super Store on Graham Street in Kentland. The couple ran the store up until June 10, 1947 when a fire destroyed the building. In late September Murphy’s relocated in the former Nash dealer building on Graham street and named the store Murphy’s Super Market. Sometime in 1960 Charles and Dorothea retired from the business and handed the respons

ibility to their son David Murphy. Dave made the decision to move the super market to the empty Ford dealership on Dunlap street where it currently sits today. Today Murphy’s Food King is in it’s third generation of family service. When David passed away in 2006 the business was taken over by his daughter Colleen Clifton and Murphy’s Food King is currently operated by Charles and Dorothea’s grandchildren, Colleen Clifton and Shannon Hutsell.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

It's Pinwheel Season. Here's the most important questions We are asked.

1. What is a Pinwheel?
-It's delicious. It's tenderized steak, seasonings, bacon, and cheese assembled together then wrapped up ready to grill. (You don't have to grill them, it's just how we like to cook them).

2. Do you have pinwheels today?
-FRIDAYS! We post them AS SOON AS THEY GO IN THE CASE. That's when they're ready. We have also been able to post when they are sold out, due to how fast they have been selling this year. Barring severe weather, expect them most Friday afternoons.

3. When can I get pinwheels?
-The season starts around Memorial Day and runs through Labor Day. Sometimes it goes a little longer if the weather cooperates with Us.

4. What if I'm worried I can't make it in time to get some OR I would like a specific amount (large or small)?
-Call Us. We're happy to work with you. We just need to know what to make.

Here's Our Post About the Weather tomorrow, Wednesday June 17. No fancy images, no excessive warnings that the sky is falling. Just a simple reminder to be aware of your surroundings.

There are supposed to be two rounds of storms, one earlier in the day, and one starting in the evening and going through most of the night. The night one is the one to keep an eye on. Right now, we're kind of in the middle of the area that looks like it's going to be hit. That can change between now and tomorrow, and honestly We hope it does.

Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, know where to go for shelter, and check on those that may need help before the storm. Don't panic, just keep an eye on the sky.

WE ARE CURRENTLY OUT OF ICE!
MILK OPTIONS ARE LIMITED UNTIL 06/16!
BREAD IS LOW BUT AVAILABLE!

With the storm causing complications around the area there are limited options for certain items. Ice is on order, but still no ETA for purchase availability. Bread and Milk will be restocked with upcoming deliveries tomorrow. Meat is available with more coming tomorrow as well.

Forecast is looking like it could get rough again this week, so keep an eye on the sky, help where you can with cleanup efforts, and check on those that need it.

**UPDATE 6/13/26 7:10PM- By gosh and by golly, The Fans sure were quick tonight, what's in the case is what We have left. We'll be back next week with more, and barring more major weather issues, they'll be ready on Friday as normal! We had some new customers trying the Pinwheels this round, and We hope You enjoyed them as much as the longtime fans!"**

They're heeeeeeeere! We told you We'd let You know! Apologies for any delays, but Nature decided to throw a fit yesterday and that threw a wrench in Our Plans.

Unfortunately there probably will not be an update when they run low (unless that happens tonight), but there should be plenty for those who want them!
