Still swollen, but it’s reducing a bit. The flies are miserable - trust me, I’m applying more spray/SWAT every time I go out, they are just persistent. Can’t do a fly mask because of the edema.

Despite a horribly swollen mouth, he is eating - albeit slow.

Hoping for a dramatic reduction in the swelling tomorrow.

Mars took a rattlesnake bite to the snotbox today. I had high hopes that maybe he was on the downhill side of the initial swelling, but a few hours after finding him with his face puffed up, it was clear that the edema was increasing and he was in a bit of trouble.

My vet is awesome and he’s now well medicated with newly installed scuba gear for a few days.

(For those that don’t know, horses can’t breathe through their mouth, so keeping his nose open is critical for his survival.)
