This weekend, we got to watch one of our very own babies step into the show ring at the county fair, and I don’t think we could have been any prouder🥹

This sassy boy came from our very first kidding season and the very first set of kids we ever raised here at the farm. Mr.Gus and my Junebug. Watching him grow from a little kid born right here on our farm to standing in that show ring was such a full-circle moment.

And the best part? Getting to see someone else believe in one of our kids enough to take him, work with him, and give him the opportunity to shine. We are so incredibly thankful they gave one of our babies a chance. ❤️

It’s moments like this that remind us why we started this crazy little goat adventure in the first place. It isn’t just about raising goats. It’s about raising good ones, creating opportunities, and watching them go on to make someone else proud.

From our first kidding season to the county fair show ring… this boy sure has come a long way. And yes, he’s sure got plenty of that Gus sass.

Sometimes your passion doesn’t end when one chapter does. Sometimes you just find a new way to carry it forward.

What started with showing pigs at the county fair has grown into raising Boer Goats, building a herd, and working toward something bigger. From those first animals I showed as a kid to now raising goats for future kids, building breeding stock, and helping the next generation of showmen and women, I can honestly say I kept going.

The goal was never just to “have animals.” It was to build something, to learn, improve, make mistakes, get back up, and keep working toward better genetics and a better herd. If you had told the little girl standing in a pig barn at the county fair that one day she’d be spending her days chasing goats around a farm… she probably would’ve said, “Yep, sounds about right.”

Here’s to keeping the passion alive, building something of your own, and finding a way to keep doing what you love

Three years, thousands of eggs, but even the best hens need to retire. 🐔🥚

Three years ago, we brought home our very first batch of chickens, and those girls have worked hard for us ever since. They’ve filled egg baskets, fed our family, and officially helped turn our little flock into a whole lot more than we ever imagined. But as hens get older, egg production naturally starts to slow down. And while we love our original girls, it’s time to start cycling the flock and bringing in some fresh layers.

So… meet the newest members of the Van Beek Farms flock. 40 brand-new White Leghorn chicks! 🐣🤍

It’s a little bittersweet saying goodbye to the girls who started this whole chicken adventure, but that’s farm life, raise them, appreciate them, learn from them, and keep moving forward.

Our boy Romeo is officially starting to look like the buck we dreamed he would become, and we couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead for him.

Romeo is 100% Fullblood and we’re excited to see how he puts those genetics to work in our herd.

And just look at him. Heavy muscled, Wide topped and wide based, Strong, powerful build, And that beautiful Roman head we absolutely love on a Boer buck.

He’s filling out, gaining that mature buck look, and we’re starting to get a pretty good idea of what he’s going to bring to the pasture.

The plan is for Romeo to get to work with his girls this October, with our sights set on some early March babies. After all the years of dreaming, building, learning, and growing this herd, getting to watch our buck start the next generation is pretty dang exciting. 🤎

Now comes the hard part… waiting to see what Romeo babies look like. And if they take after Dad, we might have our hands full with some pretty impressive babies.

It all started with a dream… and today, that dream just took a huge step forward. 🤍

Two years ago, we jumped into raising goats with more determination than experience. There were plenty of questions, a few mistakes, countless late nights, and so much learning along the way. Every fence we built, every early morning chore, and every lesson has led us to this moment.

Today, we’re proud to officially welcome the first two 100% Fullblood Registered Does to the start of our registered herd, meet Toast and ReRe (their barn names)🐐

This isn’t just about adding two goats to the farm. It’s about building a program centered around strong genetics, quality animals, and creating opportunities for future 4-H families to find goats they can be proud to show. Every great herd starts somewhere, and this is our beginning.

One thing we’ve learned over the past two years is that the goat community is unlike any other. From breeders willing to answer our endless questions, to friends sharing advice, tips, and encouragement, you’ve helped shape this journey more than you know. We are incredibly grateful for every conversation, every recommendation, and every person who believed in us along the way.

Here’s to the next chapter, to continuing to learn, and to building something we’re proud of, one goat at a time.

If you blink, you’ll miss it… because these March girls are growing up way too fast. 🤎

It feels like just yesterday they were tiny kids bouncing around the barn, and now they’re filling out into beautiful doelings. If all goes as planned, they’ll be ready to be bred next October for our spring babies and that’s such an exciting milestone for our herd.

They are exactly like their moms. Loud enough to announce their arrival before you even see them, stubborn enough to test every fence and every ounce of my patience, and somehow convinced that the hay feeder is always running low… even five minutes after it’s been filled.

Here’s to our future mamas, we can’t wait to see the incredible kids they’ll raise next spring🌿🐐🤍

Little me would never believe this 🤎🐐

When I was growing up, one of my favorite parts of the fair was making a beeline for the brown, floppy-eared Boer goats. I’d stand there dreaming, never imagining that one day I’d have a herd of my own waiting for me at home.

Now, these goofy faces, early mornings, muddy boots, and feed buckets are part of my everyday life. It’s not always glamorous there are long days, unexpected challenges, and plenty of moments where the goats remind me they’re in charge, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

If there’s one thing this journey has taught me, it’s this: don’t be afraid to chase the dreams that seem a little too big. They won’t happen overnight, and the path won’t always be straight, but one small step at a time can lead you somewhere you never thought possible.

Here’s to the little kid with big dreams… and to the life she never stopped believing in 🤍🌾🐐

our little girls are growing up and have been loving their outside time ❤️

They’re twice the size of last year’s kids… and twice as dramatic too.

The boys have officially decided that outside life is the best life — sunshine naps, endless grass buffets, and full-speed farm zoomies from sunrise to sunset. Watching them grow this fast has been wild. Compared to our first kidding season last year, these boys are absolute tanks and thriving in every way.

Now… do they still trust us after castrating them? The side-eyes have been strong lately, but somehow fresh grass and warm sunshine seem to help heal all wounds.

For now, the boys are happy, healthy, and living their best pasture lives — even if they may never forgive us completely.
