🌾 AUGUST FARM RECAP 🌾

August has been all about harvesting, preserving, and preparing for winter around here!

Our kitchen has been BUSY filling the freezer and pantry with the goodness we’ve grown this season. 🌽🥕 We’ve been freezing sweet corn, green beans, and carrots and canning some of our beets. There’s a lot of work that goes into preserving food for the winter, but we’re so thankful for an abundant harvest!

And if we’re being completely honest… this is also the time of year when we feel very behind in the garden. 😂 The weeds are getting the better of us, and there never seem to be enough hours in the day. But we’re trying to focus on the abundance rather than the weeds, and we are incredibly grateful for what the garden has produced this year.

🥔 We also just finished harvesting our last variety of potatoes! We’re working on getting an accurate inventory and will have them available in our online store soon.

🌾 In the fields, we planted oats and peas where we harvested our wheat. These will be used as feed for our cows over the winter. We’ve also started mowing our second cutting of hay, putting more winter feed away for the months ahead.

🐄 The cows are absolutely thriving on pasture thanks to the regular rain we’ve been getting. After a dry stretch earlier this season, we’re especially thankful to see the pastures looking so good!

🐥 And there’s one more exciting addition to the farm… BABY CHICKS! We’ll be restocking our pasture-raised chicken this fall, so keep an eye out for that announcement!

It’s a busy season, but we’re thankful for full fields, full freezers, healthy animals, and the opportunity to grow food for your families. ❤️

There’s just something special about growing up on a farm. 🤍🌱

Where childhood looks like muddy boots, helping Pappy with chores, carrying bottles to hungry calves, picking vegetables, loving on the animals, and spending your days outside.

Where the work is hard, but the memories are priceless.

So God made farm kids. And we’re so thankful He did. 🥹🤍

And we’re especially thankful for YOU—our customers and supporters who choose to shop local, support our family farm, and make it possible for us to keep doing what we love. Because of you, our kids get to grow up with this life, these lessons, and these memories. 🤍

July on the Farm 🌽🥒🐮

What a month it's been!

The garden has been overflowing with fresh produce, and we've been harvesting more zucchini, yellow summer squash, and cucumbers than we can count! Sweet corn season has officially begun, our first Yukon Gold potatoes have been dug, and we're looking forward to harvesting our Red Pontiac and Kennebec potatoes soon.

This month also brought a big beef restock! While some favorites like Shaved Steak and Stew Cubes sold out quickly, we're excited to have new cuts like Delmonico Steak and Dried Beef available. Our pasture-raised chicken is also well stocked with most cuts still available.

Behind the scenes, we're preparing to plant oats and peas after harvesting our wheat. While many farms double-crop with soybeans, we're planting forage to help provide additional feed for our cattle this winter after a dry spring delayed our first cutting of hay. It's one more way we're planning ahead to care for our herd.

Speaking of the herd, our cattle are thriving on lush summer pasture, the spring calves are growing fast, and we've moved the bull in with the cows as we look ahead to welcoming next year's calves.

July has been full of long days, dirty boots, overflowing harvest bins, and grateful hearts. Thank you for supporting our family farm and choosing to buy local. Every order makes a difference, and we can't wait to see what August has in store!
