With tick season upon us, here are some important things to consider. 🌼

YOU HAVE BEEN TAUGHT WRONG, SO PLEASE READ!! DO NOT ATTEMPT TO SUFFOCATE!

○ Proper tick 🪳 Removal Method

â—‹ Use Tweezers: Use fine-tipped tweezers to grasp the tick as close to the skin's surface as possible
•Pull Upward: Pull upward with steady, even pressure. Do not twist or jerk the tick!

•Clean Area: After removing the tick, clean the bite area and your hands with rubbing alcohol or soap and water.

â—‹ Dispose of Tick: Submerge the tick in alcohol, seal it in a bag, or flush it down the toilet. Why Not to Use Alcohol (or Vaseline/Matches)

☆☆☆NOTE: don't wash them down the sink, they will crawl back out... I know cause I have done it before.

â—‹Regurgitation: Irritating the tick with substances can make it spit bacteria or pathogens into your skin.
•Ineffectiveness: Studies show that alcohol, petroleum jelly, and heat fail to make ticks detach on their own.
•If the head breaks off, try to remove it with tweezers; if you cannot, leave it alone and let the skin heal.

This drying rack makes me so happy! I may need a new one soon, just haven't decided where to put it.

Currently we have spiderwort, comfrey, rosemary, basil and mistletoe drying. Preparing for more tea, healing balm, and hair treatment cream.

I am learning so much every week about living off the land. There is so much growing around us that we don't realize we can use like they use to.

Day 11 incubating for our first time. Just over a week and hopefully we have a bunch of baby chicks. They have been handling well so far on our 2 checks, so we will see. Some were a few weeks old. I have heard they would still be viable so this will test that idea out.

First round of bug sprays are done. This is how much one gallon can make! We have done 8oz, 4oz, and 2oz sizes, so that there would be small ones that can be put into a car, purse, pocket, etc.

Now to work on labels and more batches!
