As many have heard already, we had an accident on the farm yesterday. Our crop farming manager Alec White was cleaning out a grain bin & slipped on corn, lost his footing and got his foot caught in the sweep auger. While his co-workers, and the first responders worked quickly & efficiently to get him free from the auger, and loaded on the helicopter, the trauma unit was unable to save his foot. He is recovering, but will be in ICU for a few days and unable to communicate for a bit. Anyone that knows Alec, knows that his drive and determination will get him through this horrific chapter of his life. However, he can still use all the prayers and well-wishes that he can get. Please, never forget that haste & impatience in farm life can kill or critically injure you in an instant! And that grain bin safety should NEVER stop, even when it's almost empty. We are all saddened by yesterdays event, and wish him the absolute best, in his long journey to recovery in the coming months. Huge thanks to the Nottingham Twp Fire Dept. and the Wells County emergency services for the timely response and the work that was done in the bin to help get him more comfortable!! Your work was commendable!! Get well soon, Alec!!
