JEFF MILLER RECEIVES 2026 TREES AWARD
Jeff Miller of Kindred was awarded the 2026 "Conservation Achievement" Trees Award at the Trees Bowl and Awards Ceremony held in Fargo on August 29, 2026. Nominations were received from across the state, and the award winners were recognized by the North Dakota Forest Service and North Dakota State University.
Jeff Miller owns and operates Cottonwood Bend Farm near Kindred, ND. This farm along the Sheyenne River is a property ever growing in its species diversity of trees, shrubs, and other vegetation. Miller truly lives out the soil health principles in his operation and creates a small oasis of diverse trees, shrubs, and pollinator plantings. He is dedicated to growing and providing healthy, natural foods from forest products like aronia, juneberries, elderberry, currants, and more. Not only that, but he has a passion and commitment to educating the public about these practices as well as the landscape he lives on, writing various articles and books through online, social, and print media sources.
During the awards ceremony, NDSU President David Cook and State Forester Tom Claeys presented each winner with a special Trees Awards plaque. The award winners were also recognized on the field during the NDSU half-time activities at the winning Trees Bowl football game in the Fargodome.
