We’re excited to share some great news! Council Member Wyche’s office has confirmed a $100,000 allocation to support the Bronzeville Food Co-op as part of the City’s approved budget. 🎉🎉🎉

This is a major milestone for our work and a strong vote of confidence in the vision we’re building together. It will help us continue moving forward through this critical pre-development phase.

We are grateful for Dr. Julialynne Walker She is the market manager for the Bronzeville Growers Market and manager of the Bethany Bronzeville Community Garden which services the 15 year old Community Lunch Program at Bethany Presbyterian Church. In 2020 she launched the Bronzeville Agricademy, a ten week online gardening course and the Bronzeville Urban Growers, a network of families growing in limited circumstances primarily within the Bronzeville area. Julialynne also serves as a consultant for the Maroon Arts Group Urban Farm, the Douglas Foundation and Genesee Avenue Church of God in Christ Community Gardens, among others.

Many know her as Auntie, Mama, Dr. Walker or simply Julialynne. With her unrelenting drive for food justice in the community, we appreciate her foundational presence and commitment to the BFC.
