For so many of us, homesteading is security. It’s a way to provide for our families and know exactly where our food comes from. What a privilege it is to have gardens, land, and the ability to grow food that nourishes the people we love. Now, This may not be true for everyone, but I know it’s true for us: we cannot possibly consume, preserve, or even monetize all of the abundance we are blessed with each year.
Right in our own communities, there are countless families who would be grateful for even a small portion of what we produce. Families who would love to feed their children fresh, local food, but simply do not have the time, resources, or opportunity to grow it themselves.
We were once one of those families. In our early years, we only dreamed up all we have.
I’d love to call on my fellow farmers who have abundance , and feel called in their hearts to share it :
1. Find one family in your community who could use a little extra help. Whether it’s one bag a week, biweekly, or once a month — whatever works for your season — bless them with some of your surplus abundance.
2. Reach out to local schools, your church or a local church or neighborhood groups online, to ask about any families they may know of who could use some help .You can easily connect with families who would truly appreciate the help.
3. Set up a simple pickup plan and stay in touch about when produce is available. That’s it.
It only takes a few minutes to fill a bag from your garden, but it could make a lasting impact on someone’s life.
Imagine the difference it could make if every homestead shared just a little of what they grew. Real change could start right in our own backyards.
Please share this and pass it along. Let’s see if we can build some real momentum and bless our communities together.
God bless y’all .
