Coming back to our farmstead from 2 days at the HEAV convention in Richmond where we had an incredible time , and a truly full circle moment for Adrian and I - getting to see Joel talk in person for the first time , and meeting him afterwards! Now, This is probably true for many many many others in this realm besides us, but we both saw him for the first time in a documentary Food Inc (almost 20 years ago !!) , several years before we met each other, that put us on a trajectory towards not only being chefs as we were working toward at the time, but toward getting as close as possible to the ingredients. 4 years later we met at a farm to table restaurant we both worked at, bonded on allll the things small agriculture and food as we worked long hours side by side , and the rest was history . The story god was crafting in those moments was hallmark worthy honestly . I smile whenever I see all these little pebbles being dropped on our paths to each other . Joel Salatin has been a big part of all we have dreamed of, , learned about, planned , and are now putting into practice . Polyface is also just a hop skip and a jump away from us now , which is very cool and exciting. We also joined the VICFA while we were there and we are so excited to support something near and dear to our hearts - Food Freedom!!!! Nick Freitas was awesome and delivered a strong message as well , with an amazing spirit filled worship beforehand. The energy and fellowship in the room was just incredible. What a great first conference for us!

Well…. I think getting pigs might be the best thing that has ever happened to me. We’re obsessed. I cannot wait to get them falling over and then falling asleep when I pet their bellies & ears on camera, it is just pure JOY . What amazing animals 🐷🐷

For so many of us, homesteading is security. It’s a way to provide for our families and know exactly where our food comes from. What a privilege it is to have gardens, land, and the ability to grow food that nourishes the people we love. Now, This may not be true for everyone, but I know it’s true for us: we cannot possibly consume, preserve, or even monetize all of the abundance we are blessed with each year.

Right in our own communities, there are countless families who would be grateful for even a small portion of what we produce. Families who would love to feed their children fresh, local food, but simply do not have the time, resources, or opportunity to grow it themselves.

We were once one of those families. In our early years, we only dreamed up all we have.
I’d love to call on my fellow farmers who have abundance , and feel called in their hearts to share it :
1. Find one family in your community who could use a little extra help. Whether it’s one bag a week, biweekly, or once a month — whatever works for your season — bless them with some of your surplus abundance.
2. Reach out to local schools, your church or a local church or neighborhood groups online, to ask about any families they may know of who could use some help .You can easily connect with families who would truly appreciate the help.
3. Set up a simple pickup plan and stay in touch about when produce is available. That’s it.

It only takes a few minutes to fill a bag from your garden, but it could make a lasting impact on someone’s life.

Imagine the difference it could make if every homestead shared just a little of what they grew. Real change could start right in our own backyards.

Please share this and pass it along. Let’s see if we can build some real momentum and bless our communities together.

God bless y’all .

My daughter is trying to get me to hire her as our media manager, which is hilarious because she is barely on a computer , and has never been on social media. However, she knows we are trying to build our farm pages up and sees that I am working on that , SO she enthusiastically helped me take lots of pictures around the farm for our updates . Here’s what’s growing this week !
