Our 2026 Sourwood crop is currently being harvested, extracted, and bottled. The color and flavor are exceptional this year.

We are initially offering the honey in three sizes:

- 1 lb glass jar
- 1 lb BPA-free plastic squeeze bottle

The sourwood honey flow is really good right now. Here’s what you want to see as a beekeeper. Honey that is clear as water and yes, it tastes great!

When a hive swarms the worker bees will make extra queen cells with the goal of one queen taking over the hive so it will continue to survive. When the first queen comes out she will go around the hive to find any cells that have not hatched, sting through the cell to kill the queen developing inside the cell.
The attached video shows a virgin queen (she is the larger black colored bee) killing the queen inside the cell. Once she has stung the queen inside the cell, the worker bees will remove the queen.

I’m very disappointed and disgusted. A man works his tail end off every day to manage his bees and for what so a sorry bear can destroy your equipment and bees.
This time one of my temporary mating yards got destroyed. I set up 15 nucleus hives (starter hives) to replace the 12 hives I lost last year at a separate yard in Stokes County when a bear attacked it.

First round of splits are done and I have placed the queens cells in them. They should have hatched from their cells by now and getting ready to go on their mating flights towards the end of the week.

If you or someone you know would like to get into beekeeping reach out to me to purchase one of our 5-frame nucs. They are $200 per hive.

They’ll come with 3 frames of brood, 2 frames of food, bees and a laying queen. The queens in these nucs are daughters raised from Corey Stevens Missouri Mite Hunter F1 daughters that were open mated with drones from our local stock.
