How much do you know about salads? Yes, they tend to be green. But what else?

1. The word Salad comes from the Latin salata (salted) because vegetables were seasoned with brine or salty oil-and-vinegar dressings during Roman times.

2. While dark leafy greens are seen as the healthiest options, even milder greens like iceberg lettuce can provide over 10% of your daily folate and nearly 40% of your vitamin K requirements. Start adding other vegetables, fruits, nuts, or proteins and it is no wonder salads are so nutrient dense!

3. One of the most popular salads, Cesar Salad was actually invented in Tijuana, Mexico, by an Italian immigrant named Caesar Cardini.
