Long short story😉 3 months ago a mama cow got down. Probably had to do with all the rain and mud we've had. We were barely able to get her to the barn under her own power. Several times daily we lifed her up to stand trying to get her strength back. She was strong willed some days while struggling on others. The timing of all this put her in line with being due to calf in the near furture. After a challenging week she seemed to give up. We scheduled to put her down but when Randy checked her that morning she seemed to have more will power and was eatting and drinking good. That was Saturday, now fast forward to Monday. There was no change so we decided to have her put down again on Tuesday. Monday David was at home and checked on her multiple times, thinking that things just weren't right. Before leaving to pick our girls up from soccer he checked her one more time and noticed her water had broke. He checked and could feel the calf. He called Miranda to hurry home from work to assist with the delivery of the calf. Once out the odds were not in his favor. He was struggling to breathe. They worked cleaning him up and stimulating him to get up. After an hour he was able to get up to nurse and continued to get stronger. Severals times a day mama had to be lifted for him nurse and on day 3 she pr*****ed. They gave her a few more minutes with her baby before putting her down. Now they are broke from buying milk and have a pet bull calf. 😊 This little guy has beat his odds and is thriving.
