This week, I am determined to get the fall crops planted. That involves preparing the beds and getting the seeds into the soil. One major issue: for the past couple of months, I've been searching for several missing seed containers. I had no idea where they went. I wanted to use some of those seeds, and I didn’t want to purchase them again since I knew I already owned them—I just couldn’t locate them. I looked throughout the house, barn, and greenhouse, but came up empty-handed. I was about ready to give in and buy replacements. The only reason I had held off was that the seeds were worth more than one hundred dollars. Today, I decided it was time to figure out which seeds I needed and either find them or buy new ones. I still can’t believe it, but I found them—and I swear I had checked the exact spot several times.
That means you will all have fresh, organically grown produce in just a few weeks. We already have herbs and peppers of every variety. Salad mix and assorted greens will be coming next! I am also planting several root crops that should be ready toward the end of the year, along with many other vegetables.
I will post vegetables as they become available. I am not a large-scale farmer so that quantities will be limited. I will offer them on the website first, and leftovers will be available in the store on Saturdays along with our delicious heritage pork.
