In honor of Cowboy Tuff Chex — and a reminder that sometimes it only takes one. 🤘

My very first experience with artificial insemination was certainly one to remember. I decided to roll the dice and tried breeding 12 different cows to Cowboy Tuff Chex via straws I had purchased. After all the time, expense, and anticipation… only one took.

And this beautiful girl was the result.

Was it an expensive way to end up with one calf? Absolutely.

Cowboy Tuff Chex will forever be remembered as one of the great bulls in Texas Longhorn history, and having a direct daughter of Cowboy Tuff Chex here at Pellegrino Ranch makes that first AI experience more than worth it.

A Piece of Texas History Still Walking the Pasture. 🇨🇱🐂

Long before highways crossed Texas and cities filled the horizon, Longhorns traveled the open range. They survived drought, heat, long cattle drives and some of the toughest country in America — eventually becoming one of the most recognizable symbols of the Lone Star State.
