Six years ago, just a couple months before her wedding, COVID changed everything. My daughter was sent on an early deployment and didn’t come home for 11 months. The wedding was canceled, life moved fast, and somehow her wedding dress went into a box and stayed there. She never even put it on again.

Now here we are six years later, with her and her husband visiting for a month, and I decided it was finally time. So Saturday evening, one of my dearest friends and incredibly talented photographer, Rhonda Gregory (), came over and we wandered through the fields taking pictures while the sun went down.

I made a couple bouquets and little arbor using flowers grown right here on our farm, which somehow made it all feel even more special.

Seeing my firstborn back in her wedding gown after all these years was a Mother’s Day gift I didn’t know I needed. Their anniversary is in two weeks, and I’m so grateful we finally captured these moments

A little story to go along with these wedding pictures. A few weekends ago, I did the flowers for this wedding, something I honestly hadn’t planned on doing much of this year. After such a hectic season last year, I’ve been trying to step back from weddings and large events so I could spend more time with family and friends.

But before my mom passed away in December, someone who had done a lot for her asked if I would do the flowers for their daughter’s wedding. My mom looked at me and said, “Please do them if you can.” So I did.

Truthfully, I kind of dreaded it. But God had a completely different plan for that weekend.

It ended up being such a joyful experience, and I felt blessed so many times throughout it all. One of those moments happened when I was headed to the barn to make bouquets and a cardinal sat right beside my four wheeler, just watching me. Then a couple mornings later, another cardinal watched me load flowers into my car before leaving for the wedding.

My mom loved birds, especially cardinals. She talked about them all the time. In those moments, I truly felt like God was reminding me she was at peace and somehow still with me that day.

Spring blooms like this are just around the corner! 🌸

2025 was a hard year for me, but also a beautiful one. I stepped back from flower farming mid-season to spend time caring for my 94 year old mom during her final year. It was a God given calling I will always cherish and never regret.

That slower pace gave me space to reflect and reconnect with the joy that first drew me to growing flowers. The simple pleasures of the garden, being present, and appreciating the little miracles. It also allowed me to step away from social media, the constant comparisons, and the pressure to post the “perfect” content. Most importantly, it reminded me how vital it is to nurture meaningful relationships.

Moving forward, I’m still growing flowers, especially my favorites, but on a smaller, more intentional scale. I’m also excited about a few special collaborations planned for 2026. Please don’t hesitate to reach out for your flower needs. I’d love to hear from you!

Thank you for your continued support as Bear Creek Farm enters this next chapter. Stay tuned for updates. We can’t wait to share what’s ahead!

Café au Lait Dahlia — the queen of wedding flowers.
One of the most sought-after blooms, and for good reason:
Her stunning color palette ranges from soft ivory and champagne to delicate shades of blush and pale pink. No two blooms are exactly alike — each one is a work of art. 🌸

At first glance it looks like a peony, but it’s not. It’s a new dahlia for me called Kelgai Ann. It took me a couple of years to get to purchase her. Every time I tried, she sold out. It’s been a late bloomer in my garden this year, but definitely worth the wait. I think it might be one of my new favorites!

PUMPKIN UPDATE 🍂
We’re taking a break from pumpkins this year to give our fields (and ourselves) a little rest. Thank you to everyone who’s already asked—we truly appreciate your support.

In the meantime, we’d love to recommend our friends at Pungo Farms in Nickelsville, VA. Not only do they have pumpkins, but also farm animals, a corn maze, and a full fall experience you’ll love. Their season kicks off September 20th—check them out at pungofarms.com.

We’ll miss sharing pumpkins with you this year, but can’t wait to bring them back bigger and better in the future.
