Today the vet came to the farm to do Health Certificates for the goats and give Greta her vaccinations. We are the only farm in her practice that has Italian Maremmas. She always asks questions about this breed and I love our conversations.
Greta is even more bonded to the goats than her mom. We had her behind a fence while the vet did her health checks just so Greta wouldn’t be worried about another human touching her goats. She was whining and crying for her charges. Finally, it was her turn. She received her vaccines and was sent back in with her herd. She was so happy to be back with her charges.

The vet said, “On a property of this size, have you had predator attacks or livestock losses.”

My response, “Not a single one.”

She replied, “That’s incredibly impressive.”

They are impressive dogs. Worth their weight in gold.

Mother of the Year award goes to this cute little red head. She and her buddy went missing on me. I thought a fox had got them. As Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park, “Life finds a way.” Despite what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles, Enzo made his way to Clio’ in her sequestered chamber in the barn during her heat. How? We still don’t know, but he wasn’t able to get back out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So on Monday we welcomed the Life Finds A Way litter, who will be named after Jurassic Park. We have 5 females and 3 males. If interested, there are 3 females left.

Well done, my little lady. TPF Uno, otter junior doe, went out of her junior season with a bang! Best of Breed at the West GA Show. Uno was 7th place otter junior doe at Nationals at 3.5 months. I have loved her since the day she popped out of the nest box. On the Best in Show table she received a shout out and I appreciated the acknowledgment.

With our kidding season over, we are ready to move some of our does, bucks and kids on to new pastures.
We are very fortunate to have the Higher Ground Farm bloodline running deep and wide in our herd. The past two years, HGF Leviticus has been our herd sire. He has thrown flashy kids as he is quite flashy himself. Now he is looking for a new herd. He’s a dutiful breeder. His son, TPF Chief, was RIS at the Shenandoah Fiber Festival as a kid buck. Chief is also looking to move on. I have unrelated does that could leave with either buck, though some does haven’t weaned their kids yet.

We are The Twisted Peach Mohair Farm in Kingston, GA. We are planning to attend Michigan Fiber Festival and could hold until then if arrangements are made ahead.

We have 4 beautiful bucklings this season from Leviticus of whom all are worthy of registration, but they can also go as wethers.

Only bucks can leave alone. All does, bucklings, and wethers will leave in pairs.
