Our last pup…she’s the most special girl and getting amazing training from Enzo, Clio’ and Greta. We are in no hurry for her to leave. The right home will come and she will be better prepared for it than anyone. She’s the young grasshopper, learning to be an outstanding guardian.
*UPDATE- Our little lady found her forever farm.*

Two of our pups, learning their jobs on their new farms. I love watching these dogs work and thrive the way they were intended. Their instinct to guard livestock is so incredibly strong.

Today the vet came to the farm to do Health Certificates for the goats and give Greta her vaccinations. We are the only farm in her practice that has Italian Maremmas. She always asks questions about this breed and I love our conversations.
Greta is even more bonded to the goats than her mom. We had her behind a fence while the vet did her health checks just so Greta wouldn’t be worried about another human touching her goats. She was whining and crying for her charges. Finally, it was her turn. She received her vaccines and was sent back in with her herd. She was so happy to be back with her charges.

The vet said, “On a property of this size, have you had predator attacks or livestock losses.”

My response, “Not a single one.”

She replied, “That’s incredibly impressive.”

They are impressive dogs. Worth their weight in gold.

Mother of the Year award goes to this cute little red head. She and her buddy went missing on me. I thought a fox had got them. Then one day, she popped out of a playhouse with 13 chicks while her friend continued to sit on a clutch of eggs. Then 13 became 15. Then 19. Now 23. Or maybe it’s 25. They never sit still…

As Jeff Goldblum said in Jurassic Park, “Life finds a way.” Despite what seemed to be insurmountable obstacles, Enzo made his way to Clio’ in her sequestered chamber in the barn during her heat. How? We still don’t know, but he wasn’t able to get back out. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So on Monday we welcomed the Life Finds A Way litter, who will be named after Jurassic Park. We have 5 females and 3 males. If interested, there are 3 females left.
