Dear Flower Friends & Kingstonians,

You’ve probably wondered where we’ve been over the last year. After taking some time to fully process, we felt we owed you an explanation and a formal farewell.

Just before opening for the 2024 Season, both of us dealt with life events that forced us to make some really difficult choices. We ultimately decided that closing down the business in order to shift priority to our health and our families was the only path forward.

We want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts! We were welcomed by Kingston residents and businesses alike, including the late, great Shannon Castillo of Thistle Floral & Home, who greeted us with open arms and taught us the true meaning of “community over competition.”

You supported us and cheered us on for 3 years. You helped us grow our dream into something far beyond what we could have ever hoped or planned for. We will look back on this chapter of our lives with fondness, pride, and delight.

It was a great honor and privilege to bring joy to our community through the thousands and thousands of flowers we grew at Brightside Flower Farm. 💐

Our high tunnel is going to smell like absolute HEAVEN next season!!!

These sweet peas were grown from our own collected seeds and transplanted into the new raised beds in the high tunnel today.

Sorry we've been so quiet, but we've been busy putting the farm to bed, preparing for next year, and even taking some time to slow down and rest.

Last month, we celebrated our THIRD Farm-aversary, which we can hardly believe! 🤯🥳

Crops have been chopped and tarped, daffodil bulbs dug up and relocated, more raised beds have been built, and lots of little projects have been checked off the list. ✅

Soon, the babies in the greenhouse will be transplanted into the high tunnel, hopefully allowing us to extend our season and fill in the harvest gaps in the late spring. 🌷

We're so excited about all the big things we're doing on the farm, that we are opening up our 2024 CSA Memberships THIS WEEKEND! 🤯

It's that time of year! We'll be closing out our season by attending the final market day at The Kingston Public Market this Sunday, Oct 8 from 10-4.

We'll have a variety of pumpkins, pumpkin arrangements, dried wreaths, dried floral arrangements, and the last of our dahlias if the weather cooperates enough for one last harvest. 🤞

September sprouts! We’re so excited try to extend our season with fall-sown cold-hardy annuals and perennials. Hopefully these babies will produce some lovely blooms for us early next year when our field is usually in a lull between tulips/peonies and the rest of our crops.

Once big enough, plants will be tucked into our high tunnel sometime in October or November and carefully watched over, watered, and protected from frost all winter.

Photographed are little agrostemma seedlings from seed. They are our first hardy annuals to germinate. Our 2024 season starts now!

Still dreaming about these floral arches from our final wedding of the season last weekend. 😍

Congrats to Mark & Christa, as well as the rest of our couples from 2023! 💍

Thank you to everyone in our community for helping us get to the bottom of our bouquet bandit situation. We really appreciate the comments, shares, and sleuthing that helped us identify the person.

We want to continue to share our flowers with the community at our farm stand, so it's important for people to know we won't tolerate theft, nor will our tight knit community. ♥️
