Santos Family Farm is a small, family-owned agricultural business, located at 68 Pembroke St in Kingston, MA. We have been in business since 1941. That’s 84 years!!!!

We are proud to serve our community with fresh eggs throughout the year. In our opinion, they are delicious!

For our entire 84 years, we have operated under the Honor System. (Except for those lazy summer days when my sister and I were kids and had nothjng else to do but play Uno and talk to egg customers!) The Honor System means that we trust people to pay the listed price for the eggs that they purchase. Most of the time this works wonderful! It’s so refreshing to experience kindness and honesty on an everyday basis! However, this week, we experienced the opposite of honesty on two different occasions. 😢🐓🐔

Dishonesty makes the chickens sad because without cash to make the business run, we can’t buy feed for them. Without feed, the chickens feel sick and die. Without chickens, there are no delicious eggs.

So, please, honor yourself and the chickens and pay for the eggs that you take home! The chickens thank you!!!

New price structure and egg limit. In an effort to stop some individuals from taking ALL the eggs (6-7 dozen) and leaving none for anyone else, we have implemented a new policy. It is unfortunate that we need to do this, but we are committed to fostering community and want limited resources to aid as many people as possible.

Be kind out there! ❤️🐔🐥🐓❤️

I know people are upset about the price of eggs but do you know the tragedy behind the high prices? Domestic chickens who catch the Avian flu have to be killed, in order to prevent the flu from spreading to other flocks. There is no cure for it.

In January 2025, 17 million chickens were destroyed. (17 MILLION)

Think about that when you see the price of eggs. It’s not a scheme to get rich. It is literally a symptom of the death of millions of chickens. Not to mention the downfall of many farmers who no longer have a source of income.

Farmer Santos talked about Avian bird flu last year at the local Agricultural meeting for Southeastern MA. He highlighted ways to keep your flock healthy and he explained what is known about the virus. We keep our chickens housed so they have no contact with wild birds. We also wash our feet going in and out of the chicken house and we have specific boots that we wear when caring for our chickens. 🐔 🐓 Health is our priority!

Rose Acres Farms, one of the nation's top egg producers, has confirmed that one of its farms tested positive for cases of bird flu over the weekend.

According to the company, cases of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) were detected at Cort Acre Egg Farm in Seymour, Indiana.

With farms across the U.S. testing positive for bird flu cases, the USDA predicts that egg prices will rise up to 20% this year due to a shortage of eggs.

Welcome to the newest chickens on the block! Only two days old! They flew into town via the US Postal Service. Hats off to the wonderful workers in Kingston and beyond who ensured all 120 chicks made it from Pennsylvania to Massachusetts.

P.S. The pictures are red because the chicks are under a heat lamp to keep them warm on this blustery March day!

Here is today’s topic: The Commonwealth Commitment Program — go to college without going broke

The Commonwealth Commitment program through the Commonwealth of MA is an amazing way for kids to get a college degree really affordably. And it is especially great if your child wants to stay local (aka live at home). I can not say enough good things about it! I get money back every semester from the college or university!!! All of my daughter’s credits transferred to her 4year state school of choice from the Community College and she was guaranteed acceptance to her 4 year state university of choice. The community college was a great education too and she has an Associate’s degree that she can put on her resume as she pursues her bachelor’s. My daughter is more than prepared for her current 4 year state university and is rocking the academics! If you’d like to chat with me about this amazing Massachusetts state higher education program, please reach out! And, no, I don’t get paid by the State to talk about this program. I think it is amazing and want to share this opportunity with as many people as possible!!

Here’s some info:

The Commonwealth Commitment is a smart, affordable choice for students. If you can make a commitment to complete your college education in four years, we’ll help you save an average of 40% off the cost of a traditional bachelor’s degree by starting at a Community College and transferring to a St...
