We are a small family pumpkin farm that is open in October each year. We want to provide a fun place for families to come and spend time together at an affordable price. We want our farm to feel like a simpler time where great memories can be made while connecting with each other and nature. We will never charge an admission fee because we want everyone to feel welcome no matter what. We are passionate about family, a large selection of quality pumpkins and being good stewards of the land.

Good morning all, Jason here. As most of you know Joni is the one that does the majority of the Facebook posts here at The Enchanted Valley Farm. I'm posting today to share some news that I received from the USDA.

When we first started the farm years ago I had the pleasure of having my uncle Roger at my side, helping and teaching. It was devastating to all of us when he passed away in 2017.

Since his passing I have developed a love of growing Indian corn. Each year I would select only the best ears and replant those seeds. Over time what developed was my own variety of Indian corn. Some years later my cousin Joan gave me a few ears of Indian corn that she had saved that Roger had grown. I added in those seeds and blended it into my variety.

After growing for so many seasons I was able to register my variety of Indian corn with the USDA. Because I am the developer of this variety I was given the honor of naming it. I can now proudly say that there is a seed variety registered with the USDA called "I'm with Roger". It is found under field corn varieties. The registration includes a testimony to my Uncle Roger. The seed is now officially available to the market from us here at The Enchanted Valley Farm.

Jason and I had the BEST time at the Illinois Specialty Growers Association Conference in Springfield last week!! We ate like kings and queens for days enjoying all sorts of amazing foods from state wide growers, met the most incredible farmers, food advocates and chefs from all over the state, got to see Abraham Lincoln’s house and even got our right NOW candle co. soy candles into a new store downtown!

I couldn’t get over the amount of information that was shared, not only in all of the incredible breakout sessions each day, but also around the lunch table and tons of networking opportunities each day!

I was also super proud of Jason for being invited to be a speaker on a pumpkin variety panel on the last day! They chose three pumpkin growers from all over the state of varying sizes and I loved watching him represent our farm and Northern Illinois! He spoke about some of your favorite varieties: kakai and black futsu!

We’ll definitey be making an annual trip of this incredible conference and can’t wait to share some of the awesome ideas we brought home with all of you! 🚜🧑‍🌾🎃🌽🌱

Hi friends!

If you can spare a few minutes, I ask you to please read my message and share if you can! This past Saturday was Small Business Saturday and usually it is this awesome, bustling, energetic vibe of a day with customers coming out of the woodwork and celebrating small business! It’s generally a great day for sales and a robust message of “Keep going! We’re here for you!”

I know I am not the only one that experienced 0 physical sales on Saturday due to a major snowstorm, our event cut short and a cancelled event later in the evening. After talking to several of my small business owner friends, it was dismal for most. It is disheartening for the amount of time, effort and resources put into it. That being said, I’m happy my customers were home and safe and not traveling unnecessarily. I would have done the same quite honestly.

The reason for my post is to ask you ever so humbly, to please consider how you can support your favorite small businesses this week and remind them that what they do matters. I have faith that our customers are going to show up in full force for us for the 2025 Genoa-Kingston Christmas Craft Walk this week. Though it has been a very challenging economic year with sales for most of our shows being down, I believe we will get to continue on with this crazy dream of ours for another year.

It’s the businesses on the brink that are already struggling that I worry about. This fourth quarter can be a make it or break it for a lot of mom and pop shops and I just so badly want them all to make it. To keep living that dream of theirs and sharing their own unique view of the world with others.

So please, pretty, pretty please, be sure to support your favorite small businesses this week or let them know you’re thinking of them and cheering them on. Sometimes words of encouragement can keep us chugging along too. Many thanks and many blessings to all of you! Thank you for reading! 💕🙏

P.S. I don’t ever want to come off as ungrateful…thank you so much to the 7 customers who came out on Sunday and also for the online orders we received this weekend! We really are so grateful for each of our customers!!
