that we might see some “post summer” summer-like weather in the weeks to come!

“Earths crammed with heaven,
And every common bush afire with God,
But only he who sees takes off his shoes;
The rest sit round and pluck blackberries.”-Elizabeth Barrett Browning.

Our Story

Marty Simpson and Tara Prendergast have been on a farming adventure together since 2000, growing organic, healthy, beautiful and unique varieties of vegetables, herbs and plant starts. We employ a beautiful flock of free~range hens for tilth and chicken eggs as well. Broken Ground sits just above the Salish sea in the historic and prehistoric farming and fishing village of Eglon on the Hansville peninsula. Our mission is to grow food for our family and community while caring for the soil, the flora and fauna entrusted to us. We stubbornly continue this tradition and hopes to make our mark in the most sustainable way in this beautiful place we call home.

Our goal is to work with and preserve the land in the least destructive way, to grow, to learn, to educate, connect people and to make a livelihood for our family. If you’d like to support what we do, come by our self serve farm stand this spring, summer and fall for the freshest, best tasting food money can buy. Our markets include Poulsbo and possibly Kingston. We also offer a CSA (community supported agriculture) subscription and farm credit for those shop as you go folks. Come on by, see what’s going on and support your local farms and businesses!

Eat well, be healthy,

Tara and Marty
