Well it was a great weekend on the ranch - ladies getting things done! Hauled a steer home from pasture yesterday after sorting him from the herd. Today we got the manure spreaders emptied and enjoyed the incredible weather. We had moral support from Lucy and Big Boy for barn cleaning, and the wildlife was thrilled the buffet was open.

We have the cutest guests staying on the ranch!
Marsali and Asa were shown at the National Western and have stopped off here for some R & R before they go back to Kentucky tomorrow. Sweetest little Highland girls!

There are several times a year in the ranch when we get what I call my “report card” . Measurements and milestones that tell me how we’re doing. Branding day, weaning day, yearling weights and preg check.

Yesterday was preg check day where we had help from Dr Heather Davis and her magic ultrasound wand. I’m delighted to report that for the second year in a row, our cow herd is 100% pregnant! We must be doing something right .

Coraline, our soecial needs pet heifer, got her feet trimmed and a clean bill of health too. A great day!

We weaned the calves last week and they’ve been chilling at home in our Ft Knox pen. I let them out the other day, and thought they’d run around and be crazy….nope! They just wanted hay. Such good babies! Better yet, everyone is healthy!

Having beautiful days on the ranch this fall. Had lots of visitors from the neighbors’ herd come over, so put them back in their pasture, then enjoyed checking cow and calves….and these handsome gentlemen on our way home.

Had a great day working cattle and moving them around so we could bring some steers home for fall processing.

We were blessed with a lovely cooler day for branding on Wednesday. Very happy with how the calves look this year!
