Single mom advice after two poolside frosés 🍓🍷

Some of this I learned the hard way, some I’m still learning, and some I wish someone had told me years ago 💕

There is no perfect way to do this. No perfect family structure, financial situation, village, career, relationship status or version of motherhood.

But I’ve learned to build the life in front of me instead of waiting for it to look different first.

Take the trip. Find the hobby. Go to dinner alone. Ask for help. Build your village. Save your money AND spend it on experiences making memories. Be a mom — but don’t forget to be a whole person too!

And maybe most importantly: what works for your family is allowed to look completely different from what works for someone else’s 👏🏼👏🏼

🌽easy summer dinner I’ll be making until homegrown corn season ends!

There’s nothing better than fresh grilled corn this time of year, and this Grilled Corn + Chicken Sausage Summer Bowl with Green Chile Greek Yogurt Sauce is officially on repeat

Grilled Corn + Chicken Sausage Summer Bowls
Makes 4
For the bowls:
🌽 4 ears Dierbergs Homegrown corn
🌶️ Chili-lime seasoning + drizzle of olive oil
🍚 Cooked white rice
🫑 Diced bell peppers
🍋‍🟩 Lime juice + salt
🌭 8 chicken sausages
🥬 Chopped lettuce
Green Chile Greek Yogurt Sauce:
• 1 cup Greek yogurt
• 1 (4 oz) can green chiles
• 2 Tbsp light mayo
• 2 garlic cloves
• Salt + monk fruit sweetener to taste

Directions:
🌽Cook rice, adding the peppers toward the end to lightly steam. Finish with lime + salt.

🌽 Lightly oil and season corn, then grill until charred.

🌽Grill and slice sausages

🌽 Blend all sauce ingredients until smooth.
Build each bowl with ⅓ cup pepper-lime rice, lettuce, 2 sliced sausages, kernels from 1 grilled corn cob + plenty of green chile sauce. 🤌🌽

worked all day = no grocery shopping

33, single, and still getting asked what my husband does 😂

And listen—finding someone to do life with would be amazing. I hope I do.

But somewhere along the way, we were taught that finding a significant other is supposed to be the ultimate goal. The thing that makes your life finally feel complete.

And I just don’t believe that anymore.

Because the only person you are guaranteed to spend every single day of your entire life with… is you.

At 23, I found out I was pregnant. When my daughter was born, I became solely responsible for providing for us.

I lived with my parents for 5 years so I could save.

I left teaching—a career I loved—because I knew I needed to make more money if I wanted to build the life I pictured for us.

I started this blog when Ains was one. Literally this platform you’re on right now. What started as sharing food became another way I could create, work, and provide for us.

I worked. I saved. I changed careers. I grew a business. I became a manager. And eventually, I bought our home.

Would I love to meet someone? Absolutely.

But he won’t be the beginning of my life.

He’ll be someone I get to invite into a life I already worked really freaking hard to build.

So I guess this is a little reintroduction 👋🏻
