WARNING ⚠️ LONG POST!
I felt the need to share this story, and I asked the customer if I could, and they obliged.
A few days ago, a lady walked into our shop almoat, bursting into tears. She was at the end of her rope. The lady proceeds to explain she is looking for a birthday cake for her grandson, who is very high on te Autistic Spectrum. "All I want is a rainbow 🌈 cake. That's all he loves, rainbows and colors.." the lady had come from looking everywhere for a last minute cake, and while she was at walmart, she encountered my mother in law whom happens to work in the bakery there but also own her own small business. proceeds to tell her both her and walmart have 0 availability but that she knew someone who might be able to do it...me. So here we are standing in the shop this lady and I trying to figure it out. I informed her that I could make her a simple rainbow cake for pick up the next day, no problem. The lady hugs me tight and says, "You are an angel sent. You don't know what this means to me." 🥹 She paid for her cake, and I got to work.
I promise I was going to do a super simple cake, but sometimes my heart persuades me into doing more than simple. I was adamant about making this 9 year old boy the happiest he has ever been. And so I baked layer by layer, 6 total, of rainbow batter to make the most magical rainbow cake ever. I wanted the outside to match the inside, and I wanted to make it as bright and fun as possible ✨️. The next day comes, and the cake is complete. The customer shows up, and I ask her, "Are you ready?". I pull out the cake, and the lady covers her mouth. "This is so much more than I expected, my family, myself, and my grandson, we are so thankful for you. You don't know how happy this makes me. I feel like I am going to cry again. You don't know what this means. "She left happily with her cake, "Please take a picture when you cut the cake! I would love to see the inside." She called yesterday."My grandson started crying. He was the happiest kid on earth, God bless your business, God bless you, I just know you will go far with a heart like that."
