God has blessed me so much. I grew up living in houses that were abandoned, or with no power or no running water and that was here in the United States! I can’t image how the residents of Puerto Rico are taking care of their babies, children, sick and elderly without clean water on a daily basis. I’m blessed that the struggles I dealt with growing up are no longer part of my life. Even though I’m still working on my dream of owning a successful Hispanic food business, I can’t turn my back to the suffering of my people on the island of Puerto Rico. So if I win, I’m donating the prize money to the reputable non-profits working hard to make sure the people of Puerto Rico have clean, drinkable water.

Being back in a broadcast studio is a true prize for me. But being able to use that money to make sure someone can make baby formula or bathe their elderly or have a clean glass of water, that is a gift from God and I intend to honor what I have been blessed with by paying it forward.

Dios me ha bendecido muchísimo. Crecí viviendo en casas abandonadas, o sin electricidad o sin agua corriente, ¡y eso fue aquí en los Estados Unidos! No puedo imaginar cómo están cuidando los residentes de Puerto Rico a sus bebés, niños, enfermos y ancianos sin agua limpia todos los días. Estoy agradecida de que las luchas que enfrenté al crecer ya no formen parte de mi vida. Aunque todavía sigo trabajando en mi sueño de tener un exitoso negocio de comida hispana, no puedo darle la espalda al sufrimiento de mi gente en la isla de Puerto Rico. Así que, si gano, voy a donar el dinero del premio a organizaciones sin fines de lucro de buena reputación que trabajan arduamente para que el pueblo de Puerto Rico tenga agua limpia y potable.

Volver a estar en un estudio de radio y televisión es un verdadero premio para mí. Pero poder usar ese dinero para asegurarme de que alguien pueda preparar fórmula para su bebé, bañar a su ser querido anciano o tomar un vaso de agua limpia, eso es un regalo de Dios, y pienso honrar lo que he recibido bendiciéndolo a otros.
