Big Thank you to Kay Koppler and Elizabeth Graser-Lindsey for trusting Willow Gulch Farms to start our San Clemente Island Goat Herd.

We are excited to add San Clemente Island Goats(currently critical on the priority list) as our 2nd species of endangered livestock from the Livestock Conservancy conservation priority list.

They are joining our Cream D'Argent rabbits (currently threatened on the priority list), a few other goats; Jersey Cattle; Dutch, New Zealand and meat mutt rabbits... oh no I almost forgot Goosey, the gander who thinks he's a goat. As well as our dogs & cats. I guess you could say we are definitely animal lovers and finding a passion in endangered breeds.

We also recognize Family Farms can be as endangered as some of the animals we are seeking to protect and why we chose Willow Gulch Farms as our name after the 44 Willow Gulch belonging to my Great Grandparents Chris & May Neitling of Stayton, Oregon. Where I remember big Paint Horses, Hereford Cattle and a garden I was sure could feed the world.

The whispers and rumors are true..... there is a new man on the farm.

We are excited to introduce Samson and his girls Annie, Flora & Daffodil as our first breeding group of endangered San Clemente Island Goats to Willow Gulch Farms.

What are San Clemente Island Goats?

San Clemente Island Goats are traditionally a miniature breed known for the characteristic brown & black “San Clemente” pattern displayed by most and an uncommonly fine b***d, deer like frame. They are a hardy, self-sufficient breed. which are genetically unique.

The current domesticated herds are descendant of feral herds which roamed San Clemente Island, CA from 1875 until removed in the early 1980’s.

San Clemente Island Goats are a multi-purpose breed which can be utilized for dairy, meat, brush clearing, and potentially fiber. They produce creamy high butterfat milk and a good dress percentage.

Currently listed as Critical on the Livestock Conservancy's conservation priority list. There are approximately 1700 San Clemente Island Goats in 27 US States & 3 Canadian Provinces
